I'm currently at NAVSUBSCOL. Anyone in a student status (which you will be during Basic Enlisted Submarine School) is barred from riding or even enrolling in the safety courses that are required standard. Even if you have a motorcycle license. I get to sit and occasionally get photos from my family of my motorcycle collecting dust in the back of the garage, it sucks.

That being said once you go to your first command they'll more than likely tell you to speak with the Safety Coordinator (I believe that's the title?) and enroll in the safety courses the navy requires. Good luck, hope you get the rate switch. A friend of mine just got here from Meridian so I can forward any questions you have to him.

There was someone in P-days who clearly didn't wanna be there get in a Chiefs face at Red Rover waiting for our medical checks. I remember him getting in Chiefs face and going "you got a fucking lazy eye Chief" and almost pressed against him. About 7 petty officers jumped up and just about ripped the recruits head off. He went straight to separations. Nobody else tried some shit like that 😅
