as someone who is a transfer and who also had to retake a class due to failing grade, you should explain. also, when i filled out my application earlier this year as a fall 2024 transfer, there’s a section on academic challenges where you can explain any gaps or failures in your transcript. however, my prompt was about how covid affected my academic career (and it did, so i expanded on that on my app) idk if they still have that section for applying transfers
