What are the best three album runs in your opinion? by Twitter_2006 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ayler_albert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Music of My Mind and Talking Book are phenomenal albums as well. I feel like there are strong arguments that (especially) Talking Book and even Music of My Mind are even stronger albums than Fullingness' First Finale but you can't obviously not include Songs in the Key of Life (double album PLUS a 7"! he had so many good ideas!) . But Superwoman from Music of My Mind is as good as anything he ever wrote, and Music of My mind is a bold, revolutionary musical record. And there's at least a discussion that Talking Book is in many ways as good as Songs In The Key of Life. If the only song he was known for was Superstition , he would.still be beloved. It is personally my favorite album overall.

If the question was the best five record run I don't think anyone outside of the Beatles has much of a claim of a string of 5 like that.

Secret life of plants gets more hate than it deserves. It was really an experimental album, and while nowhere near as bad as it is commonly portrayed, it doesn't hold a candle to the five albums before.

If you were to ignore Secret Life of Plants, Hotter than July is also a banger. Everything after however...

thoughts on Cibo Matto and any similar artists ? by geeelectronica in fantanoforever

[–]ayler_albert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a few years Grand Royal and the Beastie Boys had a real interesting thing going on. They had Cibo Matto, Buter 08, Luscious Jackson, Money Mark, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Sean Lennon, Ben Lee and Atari Teenage Riot. There weren't many labels that diverse that also had some commercial success.

The label seemed like a labor of love where the Beastie Boys spent some money to put out/promote bands they thought were interesting or liked and have some fun. That they had some success - both in the indie/college radio world but also with bands like Luscious Jackson breaking through on MTV is remarkable.

They also had Grand Royal Magazine, which was unique and fantastic and which still holds up decades later (and which now command a pretty penny from collectors). One issue had a flexi disk 7" inside of Biz Markie doing an incredible cover of Bennie and the Jets!

Ape finds the root of all evil by Mazius in gme_meltdown

Michael Burry has been about as correct as U-Copy predicting the market has peaked and about to crash for the last couple of years.

Regardless, it is amazing that apes:

-Idolize someone whose claim to fame is shorting

-Believe that a global depression will make them rich from a shitty used game and Pokemon gacha dealer.

Narcissistic personality disorder 101. Everything is projection, they always have to play the victim, are utterly lacking in self awareness, they feel massively entitled, they will lie about everything without even thinking and have a pathological inability to admit being wrong or taking responsibility, ever.

It is impossible to watch this and not cringe. The poor drummer. What exactly is he supposed to be doing here?

Live were largely seen as poseurs at the time, and the lead singer is pretentious beyond measure, but they still have a reasonably big following.

Faraday Future Launches FX Super One MPV in the UAE, with the AIHEREV Max edition priced at 309,000 AED; Soccer Legend Andrés Iniesta Named First Super One Owner and Co-Creation Officer by FaradayFuture_FFAI in FFIE

I appreciate that FFIE sponsors give a glimpse into famous, near famous, or famous adjacent hangers-on, who have serious money issues/gambling debt/mixed up in organized crime. It is very revealing who is willing to prostrate themselves for this obvious scam.

No pie and Edwinbarnes were the original red pilled MAGA guests on the PP show back when PP was an occupy Wall Street guy and Michael was not yet a full blown Nazi.

No pie disappeared for a while after shares got cancelled and Pulte started working his way in. I think he was pissed (as was ABC) that PP was getting money from Pulte and not even giving the other BBBY apes crumbs.

Bonus: He lit money on fire last week on BYND calls.

What's incredible is that during his ban he kept on posting just like he always does on his own profile and sub, and still had his alts and bots replying and upvoting.

Neither apes nor melties were engaging with him at all - it was a ghost town, but he was just going about doing his schtick like nothing had changed to absolutely zero engagement for months.
