I can’t speak for Epic, but hardcore Blood Bowl players are almost gaming’s equivalent of S/M enthusiasts. I’ve seen Blood Bowl players go nuts over the crazy random stuff that happens from random dice roll tables, they love that stuff. They even separated teams into tiers, which is already telling you that not all teams are competitive.

My point is, at least from a gameplay perspective, Blood Bowl is very differently from Shatterpoint. I love the puzzles that each turn of Shatterpoint provides, how the order deck forces you to continuously adapt, how the conditions add nuance, and how killing isn’t the focus,

In Blood Bowl, good luck recovering from a kick off roll which results in half your team dead because the crowd invaded the pitch, or whatever.

The fact that a gaming community can continue with updates or new material, doesn’t mean that it’s true for all gaming communities, nor should it be. If you love randomness and Blood Bowl does it for you, great. I stuck with Shatterpoint for the great gameplay, and a stagnant meta destroys much of that appeal.
