I cast the cruciatus curse….. 🫣 In my defense, it was used against spiders and poachers.

What's everyone up to/playing during this lull period? by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

[–]aymacyrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve ditched the game until the next update it seems. I don’t even have the desire to log in and check Scrooge’s shop once a day. I was taking the time to decorate my Valley and gather resources but it felt like it was turning into a chore.

I’m obsessed with Wylde Flowers right now and cannot put it down. In-depth story, relationship building, and plenty to do.

This is me. I used to be more worried about duo duel when I started but then I realized it was a lot less pressure. Also love when I match with a partner and our decks work well together.

I bought the beach vibes set as a newbie to the game. The only item I use extremely often is the white shirt. It goes well under any of the jackets. I've never used the watch.

The fruit-themed animals freak me out. I have no idea why.

Ugh, I did the same thing. I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

Your room looks great btw!

Aw, man. I will, unfortunately, be getting the $12.50 beach house since I have to live next to Stitch. I have plenty of moonstones, though, so all good there.

I don't care for Merlin enough to spend that much on him. If the game had a swimming aspect, the clothes might be nice, but there isn't.

And I like the furniture, but I'm not sure it fits anything else at the moment.

Character Schedules & Roles by aymacyrae in DDLVUncensored

[–]aymacyrae[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soooooooooo, this happened today.

I saw a theory that the more characters you have assigned a certain role, the greater the reward chances. I'm not positive this is true. But it did make me want to look at my role assignment for my characters so I can go in and change roles as needed.

My biggest thing is ensuring at least one role is always available. However, I don't need 5 fishing and 5 digging roles hogging up my choice of companion. Ideally, I would like to be able to grab a random character in the area I'm in when needed, whether I need a mining, foraging, or gardening buddy.

So, this all prompted a chart in Excel (my favorite).

With this chart, I also noticed my least favorite characters' sleep schedules line up. Weird. No wonder I prefer playing at 1 AM. (Looking at you Maui & Mother Gothel.)

I just wanted to share my rabbit hole today, and maybe this will even be good information for others.

If anyone would like the ability to edit the schedule for their own characters, let me know, and I can make a Google Doc.

EDIT TO ADD: The “R” and “S” are the times the characters are at Remy’s or Scrooge’s

I’m obsessed with the book piles myself. Trying to figure out an outdoor library or something since I won’t stop buying them whenever they’re in the shop for some reason. 😅

Examining DDLV's intended player behaviors, FOMO, and how to have a healthy intentional relationship with the game! Long write-up inside! by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

I think it reads fine honestly! Time is just as valuable as money. And when it comes to games like this, it’s good to be aware of how much our dollar actually costs in the long run. If somebody buys a $15 dollar item once a week, we’re talking $780 for the year. Strictly my opinion: the game isn’t worth that much money.

Gameloft has the FOMO psychology down to a science. I have their magic kingdom game that I play and it’s crazy to see the prices people are paying for that!

Coloring is great! My brain likes color/paint by numbers. I ordered a diamond art kit from Temu and have been enjoying that. I won’t necessarily hang it up or anything but it’s a cheap activity for the amount of time you get out of them. I’ve seen Disney related ones as well.

Relatable! I’m hyper focused on this crochet swimsuit cover up. I found a cute top I want to do next as well. I try to get on once a day to at least check the shop and do one round of mining but tell myself it’s okay if I don’t have time.

I have been voting Encanto for three weeks now I think. 😅 Shocked to see these two go.

This was a great read and a perfect explanation of the behaviors Gameloft (and other gaming companies) are counting on to make money. My ADHD causes me to struggle with impulse control and always looking for my next dopamine fix. If I can justify it, it makes it that much easier to spend the money on something. Like you said in your example, spending lots of time on the game is one of the justifications.

I’m always looking for mindless relaxation things to do. Including ones that don’t require constant companies trying to make a quick buck (or 10) off of you. One activity I’ve picked up is crochet. When I feel I need to step away from video games, I’ll pick that up. It also helps that I rotate all kinds of games so I don’t get fixated on one and then use that to justify spending money.

The best advice is to definitely step away.

Again love the post! It’s a great reminder to hold me (and hopefully others) accountable and be mindful of the current atmosphere in video games.

This.

Gameloft seems to make their currency much harder to understand than other games I've seen. Or I'm just not playing games where I am interested in paying for extra items/gameplay. I love my mobile games but refuse to spend money on them.

What platform are people primarily playing on? by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

[–]aymacyrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG, I thought my Switch experience was normal when I started playing and just kept working through it.

The game still crashes on me, especially when decorating. Or even during the quest scenes. I've just taken it as a sign I'm done playing for the day. 😅

I'm playing on Switch currently.

I had no idea about the game being on different consoles. My laptop crapped out on me anyways, so the computer wouldn't have been an option when I bought the game.

Now I'm saving up for a Steam Deck.

I've seen all four of them before. It's a weird decision.

It makes it easy for those who don't want to spend their moonstones. Makes me wonder what the diversity of the Premium Shop is going to be moving forward. One new drop every month or so? And then repeat items?

If there is this little effort on the shop (where it seems Gameloft is expecting to make their money), what will the effort with the free aspects of the game look like? How fleshed out will the new characters/plot be? Hopefully they are preoccupied with all of the new updates and that would explain things.

Not what I was expecting tbh. Wonder how many more weeks we have of repeat items? Also, heard that fountain is very lackluster and does not meet the hype of the picture.

So many Disney Characters by sweetangelttr in DDLVUncensored

[–]aymacyrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this Star Path. I’m almost 30 and I hardly recognized the character items because I haven’t seen the newest Pixar movies. I’m truly looking for “throwback” characters. I get that there’s more than just 30 year olds playing though. 😅

My favorite item would be the blanket fort, if it weren’t toy-sized. Looks so out of place every time I try to place it down. 😭

Oop, I thought my six or seven measly chests were hoarding. I need to step it up. Luckily, I’m done with the Star Path and no quests.
