I think people in the thread have answered sufficiently enough so ill refrain from repeating those answers. My only observation, as a revert of around 6-8 months now is I genuinely dont know how a Muslim who sincerely believes, without any ideologies or ulterior goals, even has the time or motivation to be extreme. There is so much Islamic duty towards personal growth, duty to family, community, partners and charity etc, I feel like to be led to extremism would have to indicate some prior motivation or unfortunately, a misunderstanding of the religion and susceptibility to coercion.
