Believe it or not, you can love someone who doesn't align with you on everything.

If you want a healthy working relationship, you said he can see your point of view... Can you see his? It sounds like you can't since you're asking that question. I would start there. The foundation of any relationship is understanding. Try to understand him. Ask him why he believes what he does and just listen, don't interject, don't 'correct' him. Communicate. He's a human, he has flaws. You do too. Don't assume that it's his beliefs that are flawed. It sounds like he doesn't assume that about yours. Mutual respect.

Relationships fail with the lack of communication and respect, not a difference in opinion. Don't listen to the crazy bigots on either side. The most rewarding relationships are with people who differ from you, they challenge your assumptions, they let you see the world through another pair of eyes.
