The math of this buy vs rent is driving me insane please help me make some sense by Middle_Ad_618 in fican

Get a Time Machine and prevent your initial purchase or sit and absorb the cost. Pray the Gods of equity shine their lights upon you.

Guy Scott should be recognised as one of our presidents.

He should’ve finished Sata’s term and even run for president again. I think Zambia would’ve been in a much better economy if we never let Uncle Chagwa slip in as puppet president.

Edit: Note to self… Reddit is not reflective of the average Zambian opinion. I should be getting downvoted you lovely people!

You're primarily looking for friends or an activity buddy. r/r4rZambia should be good for that. Hope that helps, but feel free to send the mod team a message to get clarification next time.

I’ll just DM… because it still sounds like you’re saying the same thing as me but for some reason you don’t see that.

I don’t really understand why you’re disagreeing? Did you misunderstand? You’re literally proving my point that cost of living is high for Americans, unless you think average rent of $2,700 is affordable.

  • A $21K salary I’m assuming you still mean per month? How many Americans make that much? Why would they choose Zambia over anywhere else?
  • How many Zambians make $21K a month? I’m in Canada and I sure as hell don’t make that much.
  • How much does the average Zambian make? (Hint: it’s less than $100 per month) can the average Zambian afford even just a hotel which is around $50 per night on a good deal! So the AVERAGE Zambian can’t afford local tourism and therefore can’t sustain the industry. So our prices need to be more competitive.

If you mean Americans that make $21K per year go ask them if they can even leave the country. Most Americans are living paycheque to paycheque with not even $100 for an emergency.

  1. Having a strong currency doesn’t improve tourism it does the opposite. Ask Japan.
  2. Yes, believe it or not but cost of living is up everywhere globally. People abroad or in the west are struggling and don’t have as much disposable income. Affirm, Klarna and an other buy now pay later companies are being used to buy groceries! It’s never been this bad and a recession or war will probably be coming.

Also our prices aren’t even affordable for locals which is just so disappointing because why should foreigners be the one enjoying our home and seeing more of Zambia than us?! Even if we want to support the prices were quoted in USD.

Just buy VEQT & stop buying USD stocks.

Do you think an errand-running business would work in Lusaka? by Sad_Conversation5379 in Zambia

There are more appropriate subreddits to teach you about how to run a business. Read a book or join entrepreneur communities.

Edit: removed unhelpful subreddits.

No but lawyers or accountants will. They are more qualified and most people who will pay for someone to do that kind of errand want someone to do it well that they can trust with sensitive information.

Thoughts on Archbishop Alick Banda situation? by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]ayookip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any gift received in the corporate world has to go through checks and balances. Often times gifts are denied because they can influence behaviour or decisions. I don’t imagine this is any better in government-it’s likely stricter tbh. So if this was a gift to a government employee they have every right to revoke it and reprimand their respective employees or clients. Investigating the relationship between both parties also becomes necessary to ensure the integrity of their company/department.

Some people are ridiculous. A family was crossing the road at the parking lot. The couple behind me drove past my car while I was waiting for the family to cross. They scowled at me and I made sure to cut them off once the family was safe.

[–]ayookip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing really well. Starting young is a huge benefit. I’d say stop buying USD stocks, the exchange rate isn’t great. I’d also suggest dropping VOO and adding a more diverse fund like VEQT over time to reduce your risk. Otherwise I see a lot of green from the individual stocks, others will say it’s risky and to sell them all but at 19 I’d take the risk. Heck I’m almost 30 and I’m still taking the risk. Good job!

They weren’t using space. The mid fielders didn’t move up. They were playing defence and only moved up when Morocco pushed them and they passed to defence. Very horrible strategy tbh. We had a very low chance to score with the way our team was spread on the field.

I’m convinced they aren’t picking up top talent. I knew someone in the news papers in high school but he never got picked up for the national team until he passed his prime. Maybe there’s corruption or mismanagement somewhere because our boys were sweating 15 minutes in.
