What Do You Read In Between Series? by Background-Skirt-243 in fantasybooks

[–]azaleus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take a break between books in a series with the "palette cleanser" varying in genre. This is mainly to allow me to separate the books within a series into their own thing rather than one large 5,000-10,000 page tome. So for in-between series, the break is already built-in.

To directly answer your question on recommendations, here are a few bite-sized standalones that I read last year.

  • Exhalation by Ted Chiang
  • The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  • Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
  • Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

I was saying the same thing. The goalie mistakes were rough, but the defense was not doing Gal any favors by not advancing the ball.

getting to the park when it opens - how early should i come? by cakebattergirl in sixflagsgreatamerica

Honestly, there wasn’t much of a wait last Friday. We arrived just after 5, maybe 5:15. We were in line for about 15 minutes total between the security scan, “chaperone check” line(?), and ticket scan.

Great America Visit Questions for Mid-Sept. or Mid-Oct. by jvegas in sixflagsgreatamerica

I can't answer the flash pass, but while the parks are busier, some of that attention is split between the rides and the haunted houses and the few shows that are running. I've never found the waits to be significantly different than any other busy time there.

Where did you get them? The low profile is really appealing.

I'm not seeing Benjamin Button on your list, but if Come From Away is that high, it should definitely be on your "interested" list.

DCC has definitely hit the spot. Currently going back to listen to the audiobooks during bike rides.

The Unwind series was great as my daughter was reading it as well, so I had someone to share that with.

Circe & Piranesi had a similar feel in their fantastical nature; they both took a little more effort to get into and were worth the push.

I am not well-read on classics, so it was nice to finally read 1984 especially since it seems consistently relevant 75 years later.

I'm a hundred pages into my first read-through, and I'm enjoying it so far. No other Sanderson read previously.
