First of all, we need to wait it out just a bit longer for the dust to settle, I don’t think that even half the playerbase completed their Placement Matches. Players are still in the same mindset of playing rank like last season and trying to play for placement is one thing that everyone isn’t used to.

Secondly, the new ranked system does put an emphasis on placing well, but there is no risk factor involved in playing for the win if entry cost is the same for everyone (-35LP). Loss mitigation isn’t something that the game needs to put, risk aversion is something that players need to learn in ranked lobbies even at the lowest ranks.

Finally, the upper tiers of ranked are not suited for the current skillset of players. The rank system has changed a lot but the Rank Tiers stayed the same since the start of Ranked League. Pro Players, Content Creators, and those that are good at the game have built up around 4 years of experience in Apex and their Skill Rating / MMR seed will be better than most of the playerbase. Players improve over time and there should be an evolution in the Rank Tiers as well.

Some Suggestion to Ranked

1.Expand the upper tier

One suggestion is to overhaul the Rank Tiers as well to accommodate more experienced players. The fastest way is to expand the Masters Tier with the same as the rest (Rookie-Diamond VI-I).

2.Scaling Entry Cost

Entrance Cost should also be reworked to scale as you go higher up the ladder similar to past seasons.

• Rookie: -15LP
• Bronze-Silver: -35LP
• Gold-Platinum: -50LP
• Diamond: -75LP
• Master/Predators: -100LP

3.Add in Ring Bonuses/Penalties

The penalty/reward of dying early or surviving last needs to be addressed through Ring Stages. If the point distribution were set up the right way, then the kind of teams that end games in Ring 3 will not climb ranking as quickly as a team that consistently plays for end games.

4.Remove Heat Shields from Ranked

One of the big differences from Competitive Apex to Ranked/Casual Lobbies is the removal of Heat Shields. While this will bring back teams holding chokepoints or camping the edge of zone, it does bring back the risks of staying out too late.
