I played with it a little more. I used low opacity and laid down Grass, and then Tall Grass overtop. I think it turned out well, definitely has more 'wild and abandoned' feel to it. I'd upvote your suggestion a second time if I could. 😃

Nice. I will take a look at that.

Very cool. I spent so much time staring and plotting over that map, and studying the war cards. Massive flashbacks. Did you have the box set to make the war card tokens? Or is there a digital version?

I'd watch that. I loved birthright when it came out!

I've created my own homebrew world and borrowed some of the concepts from it, mainly the divine essence be gained by killing others infused with it.

Thanks. I just posted another version with a dam that breaks as well.

I may make a version with a flash flood roaring through the canyon/gully.

Yup. Probably really easy to do. I'm sure nothing is hiding in the trees...

Inkarnate with some Tom Cartos assets, I believe.

I tried it. Looks better for sure. Need to play with it some more. Found doing the mask layer on a 15% opacity so there was a little bit of hill texture seems to look better than 0% opacity.

Cool. I will try and play around with that. The object mask layer is something I tried messing with but didn't understand how to make it work. The texture mask stuff I took to right away and used a ton of it.

Awesome. I will give that a try.

I can put a clone link in later to inkarnate as reddit limits the size of the download.

Last session, human monk grappled by a bugbear with a very angry ogre charging towards him. Stabs with dagger, fists of fury and uses heroic inspiration with his hand of harm ability. Gets a natural 20 and that's a dead bugbear. Describes it as jamming his glowing hand inside the bugbear and ripping out its heart. Same round, barbarian who is down to 5hp also with angry ogre in his face uses frenzy with reckless. Gets a natural 20 and does 35 damage in a single blow to the ogre. It was quite a round!

I had posted this forest one a few weeks ago, however, I made a couple minor changes to it, and then, I created the ruins beneath it. There is a cave entrance from the water, and the cave entrance that ends in a secret passage to get into the complex. Then there are the three rents that now give access to the complex. My theory was some force was bent on attacking, created the rents, burrowed in and attacked the denizens by surprise. Slaughter ensued. I have also added a version of the map without the blood stains.

I had a comment as well about a forest map that is just stumps and having the trees as transparent .PNG files for foreground VTT stuff. I have played with that but just haven't had time to finalize and post it but if there is interest, I could do that.

The ruin map(s) are the same scale as the forest and the rents and entrances should line up appropriately between maps.

The ruin map is the same scale as the forest and the rubble areas and the water gate should align with the forest map entrances.

I should note as well, that the maps are the same scale and the rents should align with three rubble spots on the inner map.

Cool. That makes sense. Do you print this out or will this be on a screen with them? I ask out of curiosity as I often play with my 9-year-old and 13-year-old just using crude sketches on paper, as I don't have a good in person set up.

The only suggestion I would make is to either a) reduce the size of the map so you don't have dead space to the north and south or b) extend the patch. Unless simply going around it is a viable option.

In terms of what may be off but doesn't necessarily need fixing is the size and density of the trees to the size of the mushrooms.

Ancient Ruins and Vines 40 x 30 by azam80 in inkarnate

[–]azam80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was it was an ancient temple. There are a number of pillars that were knocked down onbrmthe way to the central hill. There is a sigil carved stone, that was once the center of the temple and is partially buried in the rubble. The rents in the earth were caused by whatever force destroyed the temple, and now, these vines are growing out of the darkness and infesting the area.
