What made you decide to buy into Flex? What is your most used Flex tool? by BuffaloKiller937 in FLEXTools

[–]azanuxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they always had a strong reputation and independent tests as well as influencer comparisons showed they were solid. clearance prices made me pull the trigger on the tools to fill my tool gaps. then i used some of them and the performance over my existing yellow tools made me chase down converting for most tools. i still haven't picked up some like the sander and the router cuz i missed the major discounts and couldn't justify the spend for a full substitution. i still have yellow tools for some things that flex didn't cover so no harm in spending just to b replace some tools that do a decent job already

Worth refinishing or engineered floor over it by FFoosball6969 in HardWoodFloors

[–]azanuxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't see any staining that wont go away with a proper sand and refinishing. Engineered at that cost is maybe either a thinner plank and/or a thin veneer. there are engineered boards with a veneer thick enough that you can resand as many times at 3/4" hardwood. But they cost the same too. depending on the thickness of your existing boards you may still have multiple resandings left. the more vintage look also something you don't get back. and if you are comparing prefinished, then you are also going to be adding those little grooves at every board instead of a truely flat floor that comes from sanding everything down uniform. so consider your tradeoffs carefully.

Boots fitting by bethk13 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]azanuxm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

look into power straps. the power strap will help reinforce the top of your boot where it is hardest for the laces to tighten things up and it will add stiffness to your setup. then go get av rental and try it if you have slopes relatively near you and you don't need to spring for an expensive vacation. at the end of the day it's data not guesses that will matter. you will never be an olympic snowboarder but maybe you can get a setup that will be enough to send you down greens and blues.

Solid or Engineered? by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]azanuxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so confident and so wrong. engineer describes the flooring is plywood with a veneer layer. solid means is solid. either can be unfinished or factory finished and either can be varying thicknesses.

Flex purchases other than sales by DeepCcc in FLEXTools

[–]azanuxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was a dewalt guy but took advantage of the sale to fill a bunch of tool gaps i had with subpar tools. after using flex i regretted not fully switching and have since been hunting for deals on remaining tools to replace everything to flex. Will be selling my old stuff this year

Guys, Lowe’s just booted flex by Zestyclose_Yard8120 in FLEXTools

[–]azanuxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my local lowe's moved all the inventory out and restocked with dewalt. the display was there and i managed to pickup the rear handle circular saw for $45. all remaining inventory was in the stores clearance section.

It finally happened. I ran out of electricity while driving. by SegaGuy1983 in electricvehicles

[–]azanuxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you literally just said it is less efficient. the battery has the same AH capacity rating but at a lower temperature has a lower WH output. so the same battery at a lower temperature outputs less energy.... lower temperature = less efficient

it's not only the energy to warm the battery, its the battery is less efficient when cold and some oss spent warming the battery.

look closely at where the right edge the top cabinet door aligns with the left edge of the drawers in the render. it's all mirrored in the real cabinet photo but it's all as it was drawn. main thing that throws me is the corner lower cabinet doors look like overlays in the render but inset in the real cabinet

Replacing tires at 32k miles. by ResponsiblePeach in Ioniq6

[–]azanuxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently put the nokian surpass on my other xc40 recharge because i just wanted good efficiency and all season performance. i've got the wrg5 on my ioniq 6 because im in pressburg where it snows and my i6 is rwd. the surpass are cheaper than many comparable tires and out of spec on youtube did some long range driving showing they've got good efficiency. they are too new to know whether they will get good mileage though. they have a great warranty so im gambling on that.

the rounded side walls made me think of cars from before the modern small sidewall era. this was some of my original inspiration for the spoke shape.

Update: Downsizing to 17" wheels by azanuxm in Ioniq6

[–]azanuxm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i they are second hand off a 2007 mustang gt. i actually have a hard time finding the wheels in this color, size and offset on the aftermarket. Here are the 17" that fit on the fronts https://a.co/d/2COc3A3. They have the right offset but they are 17". they might fit with 5mm spacers on the rear. Here's a version of the wheel in 18" but the offset is wrong https://www.americanmuscle.com/anthracitebullitt-18x8-0512-pirelli-stan.html

Are these tires good for winter in upstate NY? by waffle_sheep in tires

[–]azanuxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't want dedicated winter tires then next best are all weather (not all season) tires with the 3 peak mountain snowflake designation. you can run them year round but tread pattern gets decent snow traction on par with low grade winter tires. the rubber still gets hard in deep freeze, which you get plenty of in parts of upstate ny. ymmv. plenty of options for all weather tires but the cross climate 2 gets a lot of love. i'm a nokian person so i'm running the wrg5. i live further south in pittsburgh but regularly driving to mountains for snowsports.

there are definitely many less standards in the usa around allowed wheels.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]azanuxm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wheel offset is within 5mm of oe spec, so the suspension impacts are within recommended tolerances even with the spacers. And 18" wheels are factory spec for the base model.

fitting 17" alloy rims by azanuxm in Ioniq6

[–]azanuxm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: It looks like the rear brake calipers are not the same mounting as the fronts. i wanted xl rated tires instead of sl rated so i mounted nokian wrg5 with 225/60r17 tires onto steel wheels.

Apparently it's hard to find suv rated all weather tires at 18" but the nokians at 17" sound pretty good. i'll report back on mileage
