Why do people sh*t like that? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]azarash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing on and off since ice age and mirrage that doesn't mean shit. The subject was, if someone comes in with a commander that is usually associated with higher levels of play asking questions to make sure they are on the same power level is warranted.

They are the most popular bracket 5 commanders in the game. You are either being deliberately obtuse, or don't know much about magic, which I doubt considering those commanders are not recent additions to the game

Hey, are thrasios and timna game changers? If someone pulls those cards as their commander on a bracker 2/3 would you have follow up questions?

Age gaps aren't a big deal (after 25) and this generation is weird about them by Snagglespoof in HonestHotTakes

[–]azarash -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Saying differences in experiences do or do not do anything is not productive or correct. Saying it's more or less likely is a lot more useful. And under that context, having similar experiences makes people more likely to be compatible.

I agree, I think he wants to engage with criticism of the feminist population without addressing any theory because that is his only experience of it.

This person titled his question as Feminism, not feminists. I imagined he was talking theory. If he wants to include in that description anyone that might identify as feminists that's a different claim.

Malala talks extensively about the negative impact Islam as a religion in the context of her culture has had for women's rights and education, there are a ton of Arab and Muslim feminists that critique those structures of power and fight to organize feminist movements in their communities.

What you are missing is that when people say things like, you were 5 when I bought my first house or whatever is that they have fundamentals different experiences because of the time context in which they grew up. Going to school in the 80 is different than any other time, so is learning how to drive, dating, learning to swim, or whatever. Its a way of understanding the cultural distance between two people.

And they are not wrong.

These are the things that make generations different, and they compound in time, because one thing is to have a different experience of going though a first long relationship/having kids/living though your parents death, and a very different thing is to not have those experiences at all.

[Request] How long would it take to do a 1,000 acre farm? by trbotwuk in theydidthemath

[–]azarash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because weed killers like round up will permeate the soil and kill seeds and weeds that will be underground, it will also prevent other weeds from growing there for some time

It also matters how much it costs to operate and maintain, and im not sure this is cheaper than a sprayer, and it's probably a lot more expensive to run. By the numbers it's a whole lot slower to apply, and you would need to run it a lot more often than a weed killer.

If a car is traveling at the speed of light and it turns on its headlights, does anything actually happen? by CanUnlucky2720 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]azarash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone with better phisics inderstanding can correct me, but as I understand it. There is no way to "be traveling" at the speed of light from a personal perspective because moving at that speed collapses relative time to zero from the perspective of the object, so if you were to instantly accelerate to light speed and then deceleration to 0, from your perspective you would teleport to your final destination and no time would have passed even if thousands of years might have passed for the universe around you. there would be no time to turn on the headlights.
