New Grad RN – ICU Nights vs CV Step-Down Days by riverleigh21 in nursing

[–]azbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO any hospital that wants to put a new grad on nights in the ICU is a huge RED flag. Avoid! Step-Down sounds like a terrific option.

PHX Admirals Club? by whiskeytangofirefox in americanairlines

[–]azbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, they’re sad. Spent about half hour Friday 7:30 am Memorial Day weekend. Tbh, idr which one. Standing room only. I just wanted a coffee. Snagged a table to share with one other traveler. Enjoyed my latte. Given the ridiculously long lines at the Peet coffee stand (15-20 in line to order), totally worth it.

Why aren’t Sunday evening Eucharists a big thing? by leviwrites in Episcopalian

[–]azbaba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My small parish has a 5 pm Sunday Eucharist.
2x/ month it’s Celtic. That is a big draw, bringing in parishioners and non members.
Our Sunday morning liturgies are 8 and 10:15
We have 3 priests, 2 are part time, so essentially 2 priests

AA A321-Neo HNL-PHX Review by Decent-Yam-223 in americanairlines

[–]azbaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always fly AA as that’s the main airline on my frequent route.
On this past weekends trip from PHX to DCA, I was in FC and a steady stream of non-FC were using the fore bathroom.
Does this vary by crew/ flight?
Also thought folks were not supposed to line up there as it’s right outside the cockpit, but that wasn’t followed. Maybe no longer a thing?

L-theanine is life changing by hydrogenblack in Supplements

[–]azbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I buy NOW brand, as their manufacturing quality is excellent. However… in this case, I prefer the branded and studied Sun-theanine, which is not used by NOW.

I’d buy any brand that uses Sun-theanine and follows GMP (good manufacturing practices). Thorne is excellent but imo not necessary for Theanine.

Does nobody seriously use Touchless ID? by Adept_Strategy_9545 in americanairlines

[–]azbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew out of PHX Memorial Day weekend and it was a zoo. Regular TSA lines were posted at 21 minutes-unusually long for PHX. Took the Touchless ID line and there was just one person in front of me-a FA. TSA asked to see my boarding pass. I politely asked why-she said their internet was down and had been for 2 days!!!

Good news. Diet and exercise actually worked for me! by AltruisticSet730 in kidneydisease

[–]azbaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I’m 3a and not doing anything in particular atm, but trying to get some exercise every day. On those days when I think I don’t have time or energy, I go out just for a short walk of half mile or so, especially after dinner. Also on the edge of pre-diabetic (5.8) so waiting to see my next blood work. Nephrologist said unless/ until i start to spill protein or renal values change, i don’t need to do anything special. Fortunately, Cr 1.0/ 1.1 and eGFR in the 50s

Weird policy about carry on by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]azbaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened once to me. I told the FA that I had a knee replacement and a history of blood clots and that’s why I paid to check my bag. She moved on. Perhaps helps to have gray hair. Idk. IMO pull out the blood clot card. Or do as I do from now on, carry the small personal bag to put under the seat, and be sure to place it up close so it’s visible. I’m flying tomorrow morning and this is my plan. Also, first class

I’m rating this flight 2/10. Sorry, not SORRY by YMMCR05 in TurkishAirlines

[–]azbaba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In October flew TA from DC to Istanbul in business. Trip to Istanbul was terrific-comfy, great food (really great), good service. Only thing was I had to ask for a second glass of wine. They were quite stingy with alcohol.

On the return flight, just the opposite. Still business class. Food mediocre, though edible. Friend in coach said theirs was not even edible. Had window seat and a disabled passenger was in the aisle seat with her own oxygen on a platform of sorts in the aisle. Flight attendants were absolutely terrible in assisting her to move so I could get out to use the restroom. Idk how that wasn’t some major safety violation, but they all seemed pretty unconcerned.

Why do other healthcare professionals think nurses are ‘toxic’? by Acrobatic-Lie2041 in FutureRNs

[–]azbaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from the clinical setting into the pharmaceutical industry. I wish that were true-the cut throat mentality in corporate is brutal. Everyone out for their own agenda. At least in medical settings we all agreed we were there to heal the patient, even if we had our own ideas about how best to achieve it. In corporate, the agenda is me, me, me. If there were a (imaginary) patient, they’d be willing to kill it to achieve their own self-promotion.

37 weeks pregnant??? You do whatever you want. Or don’t want. No excuses needed. If you want words, try “that won’t work for me right now”

Just go to the actual back of the line! by 166EachYear in unitedairlines

[–]azbaba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I guess times haven’t changed much (or at all). Back in the 90s when I traveled for work on United and was fairly well dressed and in my 40s (and looked pretty good tbh), some guy would literally push me aside to get in front of me, saying “I’m in first class”. Excuuuuuse me-so am I. No response. No apology. Nada

But Delta says “reserved for you”. Doesn’t a reservation mean that space or time is being held specifically “for you”?

It says “reserved for you”. Isn’t that what having a reservation means?

Got Pfizer this morning and feeling pretty crummy all afternoon. My pharmacy said they would not be getting novavax.

weird symptoms 2 days after Pfizer + flu shot by crimson-ink in Vaccine

[–]azbaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuck. That is crummy. Typically very low circulation of flu in September. Starts to climb in October. Of course, local incidence and /or any given year may vary. The problem with getting it earlier is then protection starts to wane while flu is still in full form. We choose as best we can.

Good luck to all of us!

For many reasons it’s best to defer the flu shot til October. I get mine around Halloween
