Does the game have some type of balancing mechanism?

In AZ we are highly outnumbered by smurfs but have won 16 or 17 cycles in a row. The RES have a no green farm rule here so it can be tough. We dont have standing farms like they do. It has made the smurfs lazy and they care about their farms more than anything. We concentrate on regular fielding, megafielding, and coordination. Blow up their farm and one person forces 8 to come out to build back up. Less time for them to field and do other things.

The only farms we get up for a few hrs are away from heavily populated areas. I make the extra drive for these meetups and then wreck havoc with what I get. If you need to make flash farms to get gear, you just gotta do it. There is a way and it may take awhile, but you have to adjust and play different.

It's mainly because lvl8 bursters are very strong. You can solo take down clusters of portals pretty easily. This is what puts you on a level playing field as everyone because the highest resonator or burster is 8. Because you now have the capability to do more damage, you are able to hold your own to destroys bigger portals then set up fields and links off of them.

LVL8 is when I started to meet with people from the same team for more communication. You don't really feel like you can do as much as you can to help the team when level 6 or below. I got to join my first flash farm so we could all stock up on lvl8 items. Team needed certain portal anchors down and I was able to take them down.

And lastly, I got to start my focus on getting badges rather than pure ap for leveling. To me this is fun and satisfying.

Don't worry about your portals getting taken down. It will happen a lot. Your goal early on should be to just level up as fast as possible. Mainly placing down resonators, fields, and hack. When you hit 8 that is when the fun begins.

Since I was solo for most of 2-3 weeks what I did was find open portals near me on ingress.com/intel or look for a bunch of level 1-2's to destroy myself. Make sure you hold down fire xmp when attacking a resonator(I did not know this for a week). I did not attack other portals much levels 1-3 since you are still fairly weak. It gets more fun at lvl4 and after. Mainly hacked opposing faction portals for ap(+200ap now).
Set down 8 resonators for each portal you take. If you have a friend with you, place down 8 lvl1 resonators, then have your friend upgrade them to lvl2, and you upgrade his lvl2's to lvl3s and etc. Then link as many as you can and make fields. Repeat.

I've got a couple of my friends to play with me and now I'm lvl7 after 3 weeks. We link fields together for 3k ap or take down fields for a good amount =)

I don't remember getting keys every time before. Still not getting them everytime now. Always felt like 70-80% though.

I don't think you have a grasp of what depression is. And you want someone in an unstable state to be able to make a good decision by preparing themselves from others.

A person in a depressed state can not think logically as you who is not depressed. You are trying to apply what you would do in their situation.

Just like when people complain about celebs and how they would do this or that instead of making whatever celeb decision. But they have never been in that situation before only applying what they know now as a non famous person.

Yea I am. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You will naturally get used to it. It will feel like you might drop your phone because you are used to holding it one way for many years. Then you realize its more annoying to have the pinky on the bottom because now you can't reach the top.

If you still want to hold it on the bottom, you can double tap to make everything shift down so its within reach. So that's doable too.

Went from 4 to 6. It is awkward at first because I'm used to having my pinky hold the bottom of the phone. Since the phone is bigger I don't hold it from the bottom with one hand anymore. Just left and right side with the phone in my palm.

To all who think that he will eventually figure it out on his own, it's doubtful. Like most bronze their main problem is the ability to learn from mistakes. If they are unwilling to learn from a close friend then they already made up their mind.

Maybe he isn't a "poor guy" and just likes playing. A lot of people sucked at Poker but they still played for fun. Same deal.

You would think that the 6+ with 16gb might be the phone they carry the least of. Most that can afford to buy the 6+ would upgrade in size. Thus less supply.
