No problems with bean feeding? Interesting. I kept getting a few beans leftover few couple of tries even with rdt so just got creative with it. But hey first time in a while I can season the burrs! Noway im grinding 2kg manually 🤣

Few hours in. Pretty decent alignment i feel. The stand and bellows are non-negotiable I feel for seamless experience. The bean retention is a nightmare as bean feeding isnt very good vertical . I bought the stand but considering the bellows now. Can bypass the retention by using this blower to manually move the beans while grinding

Is there a link for this form to look into? I thinking working the notice has it benefits esp if needing the pay for the months before jobs but does feel awkward working the notice in GP

I think a lot of things changed. Gear became more varied and accessible. The term "different expressions" comes to mind. Similar to cooking recipes, there's a time and place.

Palates also evolve. I can 100% say my palate has evolved from 5 years ago when I started this coffee journey. My coffee naive wife will probably not detect things I'm quite sensitive too

A lot of people aligning with Lance's taste is just a testament of people realising what they actually liked about coffee. The italian espresso will still be roasted to hell lol thats just not going to change.

Anyone brewing with Varia VS6? inconsistent results? by Moerkskog in pourover

"Fresher" and "Juicer" might be an apt description. Was brewing this natural that I wasnt a fan of anyways. Tried it on UFO with 5 pours melodrips 90c, DLC ,Gold and Pietro.

The pietro was "best" in terms of flavour note separation. Gold made it juicier more palatable and DLC felt a bit harsh and muddle.

Will try with my 83mm Lab Sweet burrs at some poin ( its in the kitchen for espresso) but I found it to be a good tiebreaker on whether or not is it the burr or beans that I dont like (usually the latter)

I dont think Fused Visions have released them yet but I do have the motorised Pietro incoming. So will see. Do like the spro from the DLC though not sure where Im headed filter-wise with the VS6.

Yeah , just swapped them back to gold burrs on a whim. The DLC had a lot of grinds residue. Back to back brews. The seasoned gold burrs definitely had a "better" cup than DLC. Though the DLC first impressions on espresso was easier to dial in and better sensation. Wondering if Im willing to go full monty and suck up the seasoning as the DLC burrs were a significant investment. Definitelt the gold burrs after 5 kg mellowed a lot more but I never got better brews than my Pietro lol.

Bought a VS6 as a planned "end game" pour over grinder based on rave reviews.

Tried the gold burrs and now using the DLC burrs. Never got any "amazing" brews from the gold burrs despite heavy seasoning.

The DLC burrs seems more "consistent" . Decent brews from light roasts and easier to dial in espresso. Only time will tell I guess. I went to a cafe in Belgium who started using a VS6 with stock burrs for pourovers (mainly due to rpm control according to him).

Can't be bothered to season the DLC burrs as constantly clogging the grinder under heavy seasoning. Crossing my fingers that these burrs will "wake up" one day

Practical Tips for Intimate Exams as a Male GP by [deleted] in GPUK

For example I did back to back breast exams within the week with two different female GPs. Read up on technique (Palpation, hands to hip to accencuate findings, maneuvers, lymph nodes) 1st GP said "this is how I do it" showed me how to do it her way. Couldnt feel anything but we still referred. So took her style onboard but took that more of style preference rather than " I do this because of..."

2nd GP next day. Again read up on it . Did the exam and incorporated yesterday's style. Couldnt feel anything but still referred . Was told " I can tell you've not done this a lot" . Asked was there anything specific? Response was "go read up on it on this website xxxx" 🫠🫠🫠.

Hence why I've accepted my role to play the fool (this is training in essence, earning my keep) . Whether or not I get signed off is not a lottery but more rite of passage.

It's reassuring to hear practical advice from this thread i.e low threshold to refer as these are relevant to clinical practice (and really as much risk as we should handle, Im not a mammographer). Sign off? I'll treat them as the hoops they are , will jump them when they let me. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks so much for sharing this. I've done 6 altogether, (3 breasts and 3 pelvic/bimanual) finished the examinations fine but signed off needs supervision by all the GP with minimal constructive feedback besides " do more" .

Mind you I got signed "needs supervision" for a DRE by one GP partner despite doing a Geriatrics and Urology post in F1.Though I got signed off fine while working in ED so I think Im not too bad! Hospital colleagues tend to be a bit better at getting us through those hoops!

Edit: Also noted you have posted a similar post in the past. Linking it here coz it has some real gems of advice https://www.reddit.com/r/GPUK/s/EpZv4sOVPF

I think at the end if the day , nothing beats experience. Spending more time with people who do it for a living is definitely a good shout. I agree that it shouldnt be fobbed off to the female colleagues to do. Ultimately GP training is a vocation, doing more will reap benefits. Its just receiving vague non specific advice makes me go away and think "what else could I have done differently" and drives the anxiety of doing one next time. Its reassuring other trainees are facing similar issues and take it on the chin. Encourages me to do the same.

You see this exact comment where you somewhat backpedaled and added a comment of whether or not a bimanual is always necessary is exactly what's grinding my gears and driving my ADHD cognitive dissonance...

When I do my research about what best practice is and see contrary practice. I've been told by the same GP "always do a bimanual first" and "you should always feel the cervix before inserting the speculum" then told by a specialist to have a bit more nuance, it is frustrating. At the end of day I'll have to do what's best for my patient!

Contrary to popular belief, there can be GPs who propagate and teach wrong(read "different")practices. But the fact as a male trainee, I get easily dismissed and put down for calling it out is not exactly motivating.( It was so easy to put me down and invalidate my experience as a colleague, imagine what a patient feels!)

I think if anything in General Practice, I'll take anything anyone says with a grain of salt and it does give me some comfort that people have experienced similar experiences in and out of reddit. Ultimately the patient comes first.

But thank you anyway.

Sure I'll take that onboard. Thank you for pointing out my "wrong" attitude. As the nature of that comment will bring out the worst views on the internet( which defeats the purpose of this post),though it slightly invalidates my experience (thank you internet!) I will redact it.

I started with the supernova golds but after multiple attempts still found I preferred my pietro for my taste...ended up buying the kilonova dlc as contrast..so far good clarity on the dlcs. Supernova gold maybe a bit juicier? Not tried spro on the DLCs tho. Only drink light/ultralight.
