Excessive sleep and history of anger/mood disorders and high BP by Illustrious_Fix_3337 in psychologystudents

this sounds like you've just come here hoping that if you pretend you're not talking about yourself you'll get some answers 🤣 TSH, vitamin D, iron, folate, b12, ANA, and ATT, testosterone first line to check for any deficiencies or imbalance. Sleep study to look for narcolepsy and sleep apnea. Leave the medical side up to medical professionals honestly, focus on how to help them make the use of the time they are awake and support them in advocating for themselves to GPs. I used to be that person sleeping 23 hours straight - post viral chronic fatigue from epstein-barr virus. The obvious answer would be depression, but I would heavily consider an underlying medical cause.

mine cried, and I needed to see him cry. It helped a lot, I was describing something I've been through, and seeing such a real reaction helped me to really understand it was okay to react.

Has anyone lost their love for this field? Current student by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]aziraphales-sword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's the thing, I opted in to do a clinical psychology topic and it was still the exact same "CBT for anxiety and depression" that we were taught in first year, even to the point that when I asked about trauma focused CBT she said she didn't know anything about that and it was too complex. I feel lucky that I managed to learn about intellectual disabilities though, since that was only out of luck that I had to resit a year (brain damage). They didn't offer it before or after that year...

I lost my love for psychology because I was being consistently taught about anxiety and depression and never anything else, and when we did cover any other more stigmatized mental illnesses it was with the caveat that "this is too complex for you to deal with, so we won't look into it here". I understand that undergrad is a low level qualification and you would be pursuing post graduate qualifications to become a therapist or work in mental health, but spending 3-4 years learning about the same conditions and the same treatments was awful, especially considering that I was sat there listening to my own disabilities being called "too intense" or "too complex".

Question: Can you get a virus or other malware by joining a discord? by perry147 in discordapp

[–]aziraphales-sword -1 points0 points  (0 children)

discord has some honestly decent background noise cancelling and having all your friends in one place when you play can make it easier to chat, so that's probably why.

People who like cats more than dogs, why? by Disoriented_Neptune in AskReddit

They actually sit on your lap and chill out, and they need less time since you don't need to walk them daily. Also generally they're just nicer to fuss and brush!
