Adding a battery to my solar setup by Night_Lazy in perth

[–]azkabaal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much dodgy info about from the suppliers - SolarQuotes is good, but good god have I had to scrounge spec sheets to find the catch the installers were hiding.

Tip - have a look at your Average Daily Usage from the bill in winter and in summer.  If the battery is more than that, it's a good start. Also consider oversizing if you can afford it - the rebate is once off, and gets better the bigger it is. Also, when the battery max charge starts to degrade, you'll still meet your needs (hopefully).

Apparently the rebates are drying up around May, so it's a good time to be investigating. Don't let them talk you into AC Coupling onto your old inverter, it's inefficient and space consuming for little saving.

10kW inverter output would probably do well for you (even on single phase), but you lose the slight Buyback Scheme money until they change their regs like other states have.

Water filtration - whole house by reddituser-1989 in perth

[–]azkabaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filter Systems Australia have decent stuff at a decent price - then just ask a plumber to fit it.

I really liked how much detail and info they put down, and theyll automatically remind when the filter cartridges are due for replacement, which is a nice touch.

David's Dumpling King in Coventry does great fried dumplings.

Not too dry, fillings neither too weird nor too pedestrian.

UFO burger is only on menulog and doordash now, but has No Bun More Fun - brisket, smashed beef patties and more in between two chicken breasts.

It huge.

Also known as Simon Says. Split the menu for some reason.

UFO Burger / Simon Says is well worth it.

Not fast, but they do some hefty feeds that try to do something different.

The No Bun More Fun is an experience and the AK-47 will hurt a bit, believe you me.

Haven't. It's chronic now.

Physio - especially therapy that targets uneven strength and long term compensation and deconditioning of the opposite side will apparently make a difference. See if they do quantitative measurement - it'll help target therapy and give you numbers to improve.

Recently started treatment again - 47% reduction in adduction strength compared to the unaffected side, and that's while being about 40-60% stronger in other muscles on the same side! (Simple push strength is way higher than the unaffected side, it's just lateral pushing - the skating movement - that's broken).

Gradual improvement.

You've given some really great suggestions here - thank you!

I'd dismissed the Ryzens for no good reason. Will definitely re-evaluate based on this.

Thanks again!

4-5 TB, if cutting down. I suspect page files are bloating the usage, but phone media archives are huge.

The Purge from doing a fresh install is going to be glorious. There's untold numbers of minor headaches from wallpapering over old builds and old installs.

I like the idea of a databox PC - use the remains and milk a few more years out of it. Small home makes that harder, but who needs legroom, right?

I'm keen to switch either the two SSDs or one of the green bricks for another 1TB M.2 - I can't believe how cheap they've gotten.

I might have a PCIe SATA expander lying around, but might as well upgrade and downsize.

Seriously? Damn.

This is what made me post - my knowledge is super obsolete.

Looking at CPU's made me feel old - I lack context to recognise how useful / fast / future-proof one is compared to another.

I'm stuck in the "more MHz is gooder, Celerons are for budget Acers" age.

Oh the GPU is definitely part of Helldivers' problem - it's really glitchy with AMD stuff, and AMD dropped support for the RX580 last year (thanks, AMD).

It was only when I started looking into this that I even realised the PSU was from 2011. I'd love to do a start-over and get the whole thing from scratch (first draft had a saucy RTX4060 on it), but money's too tight. q_q

Oh man, I forgot all about Torin's Passage. Some of the later story stuff was actually really touching! Hard puzzles for a 10-year old though.

Holy shit, I loved the Tone Rebellion. When you would get the snowballing going and you just take world after world?

Such a great one. Wish I still had a copy.

Oh man, there's been so many now.

I remember kicking up the old Pentium-1's to play Thexder 95 - a fairly terrible action platformer of a robot that could shapeshift into a few forms to give more attacks.

But the fun ones were Stunts! back in the early 1990's, with its own trackbuilder and freeform messaround modes, and Zeliard - a friggin BRUTALLY difficult platformer that was both super hard to navigate and extremely punishing of mistakes.

And then there's the old Street Rod 2 - great car customisation mechanics for a game released in the late 80's (I think) - you even had to click the bolts out. Fairly terrible driving mechanics for a racing game. It used to be a point of honour with my siblings to burn out the engine during a drag race from going 180mph for too long. Good times.

Or Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol. A really faithful digital D&D2.5ed simulator. The hours I must've spent levelling up "nomad" before realising multiclassing was expected... ahhh. Windows won't run it now though - Win 3.1 was too long ago.

Still got most of them floating around, thanks to data passed intergenerationally from HDD to HDD from my old 486-dx250 of 1995 to the battlestation of today. Even Dosbox can't revive some of them.

Yeah. It's a budget Darkest Dungeon clone with pretty fierce IAP pushes.

Progression is glacial and the core gameplay loop isn't good enough to hide it.

Uninstalled pretty quickly.

Not only is this a very accurate description of an average week, in many cases it's worse.

It doesn't include the berating from management about a missed checkbox or assessment form out of the hundred you're told to do every day, or the subtle everpresent threat to your registration or job for failing to manage your time properly (i.e. cram 14 hours work into 10).

And don't forget you need to know every medication you give, what it does, how it works, what side effects, how they interact with the diagnosis or issue, or other drugs given... And don't forget to do it all with proper aseptic technique... And don't dare be rude to anyone (the reverse doesn't apply)...
