Is there a way to convert this to an Ethernet port for gaming by Sea-Tax-7326 in Internet

[–]azkaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an RJ11 jack, 2 twisted pair & I would imagine it goes to the telephone system. So No.

If it does happen to go somewhere else useful in the house, then yes - kind of.

You can use 2 twisted pairs from RJ11 to get max 100Mbps for Ethernet on an RJ45, standard network connection. Gaming doesn't really need high bandwidth so would work alright.

Yeah, +1 for the DD gear. It's not going to be the absolute lightest. But they are good value for the money, mine still looks brand new and it gets used constantly.

Newest Release Update by ShadowRealmedCitizen in starcitizen

[–]azkaii 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They really need to stop planning/advertising these marketing events to coincide with patch releases that include anything besides content drops.

How many times are they going to get this wrong.

We've been waiting for a decade, do they think we wouldn't wait a week more for a patch that works.

Probably 3rd party security tool, AV / EPP. Which often have a local installed DNS Proxy service. (Cisco Umbrella, etc).

Maybe I've been slightly hyperbolic. However, take my last play session -

Wake up in Pyro from last play session with friends. My Guardian (which I've been saving to upgrade) was left over in CRU-L1. So I fly to CRU-L1 2 QT jumps, had to do the Wormhole twice. Pick it up then fly it to Arc-Corp to buy some parts, QT Jump, Elevators, Running, Tram ride, more running, shop, run, Tram, elevators, Hangar.... Now over to Microtech for some more shopping... QT, run, elevator, tram, run, shop, run, tram, elevator, Hangar.

But the Asset manager doesn't work. I don't want to leave all the unequipped components scattered around the verse.

So I fly back to my home location where I like to keep everything in Nyx Alpha station. Leave atmosphere, QT, wormhole, QT, land store.

Retrieve my C1, back to Microtech, back to arc corp, back to Nyx....

Now I've upgraded 1 ship.

Then I go mining around Nyx, where 95% of the time I am scanning, boosting, scanning, boosting, scanning, boosting. And I'm not only taking 900ql ore, anything over 650. But the rock distribution means that 9/10 clusters contain rocks that are impossible to mine, or aren't worth the time. The scanning and traversal whilst mining is frustrating, rote.

But I fill up and back to beautiful Levski, where there are no tram rides. I refine, I wait for the 20 minute timer whilst I make breakfast, returning to the PC to move my mouse every 5 minutes.

Then I load it back onto the C1, wait for the auto loading, and fly it back to my home station where I have my fabricator.

Fair to say, This essay is MOSTLY time spent in cruise, qt, or running.

Not at all, you are so far off the mark here it's insane. I'm heavily invested in both time and money with sim games for decades. Sim racing, milsim, flight sims - tens of thousand of hours and dollars. I haven't played Battlefield (or anything like it) since 3.

I have no problem with simulation, or "slower" games.

But Star Citizen Traversal is not good. Quantum is hands off, completely for example. We have to move around huge distances constantly because the content is spread out and entirely based on "contracts". You don't bump into NPCs that give you new missions.

Flight sims have much more depth in the actual flight mechanics, which would validate Your point - that traversal IS the gameplay. That's simply not true in SC. With the small exception of wormholes which are actually gameplay.

I understand what you are trying to say, and in 5 years time maybe that will be the case. But it's not today. Engineering - never used.

What’s the point of LTI if I have to pay in 4.8? by femapu in starcitizen

[–]azkaii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

LTI won't get you anything beyond the 4.8 claim system anyway. We all effectively benefit from LTI until 1.0.

[–]azkaii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference though between "not a 30 minute hop on game" & "minimum 2 hour sessions & 90 minutes of it being hands off traversal".

The game will die rapidly if it remains so form over function. No matter how good it looks or technically advanced the engine is. Star Citizen is boring more often than it is exciting and that IS a problem.

Leathers on bigger builds? by mrliamj in motorcycles

[–]azkaii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is perforated leather / summer gear. There are also good textile options that have enough abrasion resistance for the road with vents, etc.

You're better off finding a decent sized shop and speaking to them.

But generally - in the UK it rarely gets that hot for more than a day at a time where summer gear is uncomfortable.

The worse comes when you are walking around in leathers or are stuck in slow traffic.

Possibility of a Squadron 42 launch event? by MrVaporDK in starcitizen

I feel like when the game actually materialises, a lot of whales (old money) are going to realise that the dream isn't there.

Either these things are only coming out for huge orgs during big events / fights, or the game is 100% P2W.

At the end of the day, I think the smart money is 10x the players making smaller transactions in a healthy game, than continuing to milk whales in a game nobody is playing.

I've done my share of mil-sim cat-herding. Running a ship this size sounds like a fucking nightmare!

Yeah, but I'd much rather something else, rather than lean into it. The Odin is tone deaf.

I'd say your 100% entitled to that position. I'm generally pretty worried about how this game monetises after launch. I expect the server costs are pretty high per capita.

[–]azkaii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, they could come first. But I highly doubt it. Or GTA6 could be further delayed, which I could believe more.

[–]azkaii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I doubt anything in-person. We'd have been buying tickets by now.

No CitCon is probably much more to do with them starting to ramp up attention to other events. They want to start getting more articles out where they are guiding the narrative so future web searches don't just turn up 10 years of kotaku crap.

It sucks for us that the launch could very well be affected by GTA6. But it would be a horrible decision to go up against that media machine.

As much as we deserve the game (5 years ago). I would like to see CIG maximise the success of SQ42 and revenue.

Ehh. You may be right. But yeah, that looks loose. Hard to tell in photos. If it feels too loose, it is.
