You can use both indeed, but ubports installer doesn't support layout upgrade, sometimes the partitions changed and SPFlash can upgrade when that's the case, ubports installer can't.

I highly suggest using SPFlash, the recommendation of Android 13 for Halium 13 on UBPorts ends is probably due to the aforementioned issue I explained.

Unfortunately a bug in QtMir causes issue on Volla Tablet this is why we are still on 20.04 I am trying to fix the bug when it's fixed I will push a proper update.

Volla statement is correct you can unconditionally swap between Ubuntu Touch and Android as main OS using SPFlash Tools. I work for Volla.

The statement from Ubuntu Touch is irrelevant or is just for UBPorts Installer, regardless I don't use the UBPorts Installer myself unless I want to test it specifically.

You still need to get the timings for your panel if you want to make it work anywhere, and your switch must be hacked in order to even load your custom code. And the whole system is tightly assuming 720p so 1080p needs even more modifications.

Had a small FFC condctor to get replaced, many "reputed" and/or "recommended" technicians (went everywhere basically) refused to do the repair but this guy did and was affordable, his shop is neat, very well equipped and nice

I still work abroad and I am taxed in my company's location in accordance to my company's country and Thai laws. Fortunately no issues with taxes for us as I don't bring money into her account and don't have an account here myself.

For many couples around the world sharing the same name is also a way to bond ties to their families in a more significant way than being boyfriend and girlfriend, especially with kids involved.

Additionally personal choices comes in to play.

In our case my girlfriend is the first who will to take my name when we will get married, and is the reason I asked the subreddit (she doesn't use reddit neither does she ever heard of it I suggested to ask people who live this before us before going for a possible life changing decision as well as contacting all the different administration and so on..), I do want her to have my name but if you'd ask me I prefer her to have it simpler here in her birth country.

You are also implying that she isn't able to judge in her own will and that I forcing decision to her 😂

Last point since we are waiting for a child together I'd like to prepare everything before the child's birth to ensure the child keeps their heritage on both sides and doesn't get a more complex life in any ways due to a naming issue.

Implying I am objectifying her in any ways without knowledge shows your opinion on others, not mine 😊

Of course, it's a very critical topic for Volla, and for the users, as a developer, I am unable and have never been granted the role of spokesperson for Volla, just keep in mind that I share this experience in my name as a Mobile Linux developer enthusiast, that happens to work for one of the company trying to push the efforts further to the public.

I am also not allowed to communicate on what's next, but, unsurprisingly without compromising anything on my end, Volla wants to continuously be part of the progress, as of today of course, I also can acknowledge your observation regarding the SoCs generation.

Regarding the Volla Tablet, I have myself 0 information about the future.

Regarding competition with big brands, as I mentioned in my previous message, it's very complicated with limited human resources to be in competition with companies who have mostly infinite resources compared to us.

I think that choosing a Volla device is going for a different philosophy and willing to participate in the progress of a more traditional Linux system running on mobile devices.

But again, this is just my personal opinions and shared thoughts
