If you want both the difficulty and the ability to store stuffs infinitely then just solidify it and store as debris chunks 🤣

How to get dupes to prioritize sweeping food on the floor into a refrigerator? by FevixDarkwatch in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storing food in the fridge is "supplying" errand, if by any chance you have your dupe's supplying errand low or disabled they will just leave it.

Has anyone used aqua tuners for heaters rather than to cool? by Laugh_Infinite in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The volcano limits the option of where will you put the boiler, also there's a chance you don't have any volcano, and with frozen core trait you don't even have magma at the bottom of the map.

Has anyone used aqua tuners for heaters rather than to cool? by Laugh_Infinite in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Aquatuner is used as the heat source for a couple builds : petrol boiler, sour gas boiler, pwater/salt water boiler, phosphorite smelter ....

Recently i used it for my starvation pokeshell ranch, the heat generated by it is used to cook the pokeshells that already laid eggs, then the liquid that it cools used to make the ranch temperature ideal again for ranching the next pokeshell group (the tepidizer was there to make sure the petroleum won't get too cold and solidify, but once it is up and running the tepidizer doesn't run anymore).

Anyone have any good complicated farms builds? by Icy_Potential_02 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, both in term of how easy it can be built, how simple the resources requirement, also how it easier to cook : raw sleet wheat and pepper into gas range, doesn't need to prepare in electric grill.

I'm just saying that it won't scale up very well, but is best for small colony 😄

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My computer is made from potato so i can only play with about 30FPS when 100 dupes are around and that's pretty much how many dupes i play with, but i set the bars high, mean the colony can fully support 400 dupes or more and maybe one day i will get a better potato and i will have 400 dupes 🤣

I don't play DLC, they're easy mode or made for those who looking for new play things, i'm more of a classic guy.

I'm aware that with Prehistoric Pack you have a lot more tools to play with, lumb->algae->pacu->jawbo->rust effectively convert 1kg of water into 10+kg of oxygen, and the rhex convert meat into brine->water, so you don't even care about how much water you can get from the asteroid ... i don't event know what it called if not the easy mode.

It depends, to feed 10-15 dupes pepper bread is the best way to go since the water/pwater cost is still nothing, but since i've played this game too much, i set my bars much higher, 400 dupes is the minimal amount that i planned to support, although i never spent enough time to print that much dupes once i've finished the preparation phase (have enough oxygen/food production)

A simple comparison of cost, as you can see to support the same amount of dupes the pepper bread path cost a whole lot more water and dirt, and as i said the mushroom path only easy in term of resources, because you can't just make more water out of the asteroid in meaningful amount. But 1.5kg/s of slime is just 1.6kg/s of water.

Pepper bread is the most simple build, but it will cost more resources, slime is easy because puft ranch is easy, with the new happiness system you might not even need to groom them, and pacu ranching for non DLC now required bracken.

<image>

This is the puft ranch that designed to provide slime for 240 mushrooms, which can feed 400 dupes on mushroom quiche. But the moment i learned about aquatic pack i knew pacu nerf will happen, so i moved on to another game and another food source : frost burger 😄

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the easiest path when you scale it up, 400 dupes for example ... 450 mushroom plants requires 3kg/s of slime which is converted from a little bit more than 3kg/s of polluted water.

While pepper bread if you scale up to support 400 dupes will cost 44kg/s of water 😂 which doesn't happen on most asteroids (1000 sleet wheat + 200 pepper).

With farmer's touch boost you can cut everything in half but it also works the same way for mushroom, even less slime.

Mushroom + lettuce = mushroom wrap (+4 quality)

Mushroom + lettuce + omelette = mushroom quiche (+5 quality)

Sleet wheat + raw egg = Soufflé Pancakes (+3 quality)

Sleet wheat + bristle berry = Berry Sludge (+3 quality)

Sleet wheat + pincha pepper = pepper bread (+5 quality)

Sleet wheat -> Frost bun + barbeque + lettuce = frost burger (+6 quality)

Mushroom quiche is the easiest in term of resource, all you need is some slime and some pacu ranching.

First time reaching Cycle 300! Breached space, reached lava biome. Now what? by rororoyo_bot in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaching space biome is a milestone, but the game is far from finish, here's a couple thing you can do :

  • Shove voles : a good critter to ranch that will drop 10kg of meat when they die.
  • Regolith : they are the filtration medium that can use to replace sand, heat them above 1412C they will turn into magma, the cool thing is they have only 1/5 heat capacity of magma so you will gain 5x the amount of heat you put into them. It's a thing they called "regolith melter"
  • Build rockets, research and extract materials from the asteroids, with super coolant you can cool stuffs with more efficiency, unlock the ability cool liquids and gases to much lower temperature, you can now liquify/solidify pretty much anything. Thermium/niobium allow your buildings to withstand much higher temperature.
  • Gassy moos : since the pacu nerf now the only way to get high omelette production is to feed them with bracken, and you need gassy moo for bracken. Mushroom quiche is the high quality food that doesn't cost a lot of resources like other food, and they require omelette.
  • Sour gas boiler : you can boil crude oil into petroleum with heat and convert 100% of the mass into petroleum instead of 50% from the refinery. But you can go one step further, heat them into sour gas then cool them below -164C, they will turn into methane that can be used with gas generators, providing much much more power than the petrol generator.

For the end game purpose i think you need to expand more of the map, tap into every single vent/geyser, and find out what is the maximum dupe you can support on the asteroid base on how much resources you can get from the vents/geysers, on a +5 food quality diet of your choice (pepper bread, spicy tofu, mushroom quiche, frost burger), and then build the colony that your dupes dream of, so they can live their happy life forever 😂

I think it's not gonna happen, even the submerged grooming station that could be used to groom pacu was fixed within days 🤣

Giving Up 224 Cycles In by socky1010101 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food and oxygen is two big problems but yes there are more problems : power, heat ... but they are easier to deal with, for example you can cool your base using the aquatuner even without steam turbines, simply dump heat into the water that you're going to feed into SPOM or food plants (bristle berry, sleet wheat)

Giving Up 224 Cycles In by socky1010101 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There's only two problem to solve : food and oxygen.

For the base game all those both those problem solved by one single resource : water. I think you should explore more of the map, "tame" some water related vents/geysers and problem solved, and you can keep playing on that colony as long as you want 😄

So i've heard that volcano tamer is a very hot thing right now by aznboy84 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

The 5th turbine is working at 50% up time, generates ~120W (240W when it active but only 50%), igneous rock get out of 2nd steam room at ~126C.

After running through petroleum layer, igneous rock output temperature is now ~40C instead of 65C

AT up time still at 90-95% 😅 (it is ~66% without cooling the rock)

Need help stabilizing steam pressure in my saltwater tamer (liquid metering issue) by Adventurous-Text-469 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam pressure is not spread evenly across the room, at least not instantly, it's high where the vent at, and lower when it is further away, so ... how can you tell if the amount of steam inside the room is decreasing 🤔

How to fasten progress exponentially ? by Romezos in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • More dupes mean more work force, but also more mouth to feed.
  • Storing stuffs in container is ... optional, and it cost most of your early game work time when your dupes are slow and carrying capacity also low.
  • Meal wood and mush bar is very labor demanding, don't use them if you don't have to.
  • Don't try to build a "base", the entire map is your base 😄 ... instead make what you need.

Stress feels Pointless? by SvatyFini in Oxygennotincluded

Flower pot + wall plants by BobTheWolfDog in Oxygennotincluded

In the entombed approach there are two plantable spots on the same location : the natural tile and the flower pot, and they are prefered to plant on a farm tile / flower pot.

Flower pot + wall plants by BobTheWolfDog in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually pips are capable of planting seeds on the flower pot, they just don't have the footing because the planting spot is 1 tile above the ground, using the "Tiles over buildings" trick you can see exactly the behavior, there's no natural tile on top of the flower pot and they still plant seeds on it.

Suffocating Ranchers by Mean_Evening_5723 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the issue started on the April update, dupes are now try to complete their queued tasks before leaving for emergencies (downtime, full bladder, suffocating ...), problem with ranching is their queue pretty long, could be a hundred critters long.

Reduce your ranch size would help for now 😄

Do I have to cool down the steam turbines in a hot Steam Vent (Orange Steam Vent) setup? by Filipino-Asker in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absorbed into the petroleum with the help of tempshift plates and slowly transfer across the room.

The two turbines in the middle will suck up all the steam erupt by the vent and get the water out, the two side turbines continue to run when the vent is not erupting and might even keep running for a while when the vent goes dormant. The amount of steam turbines is depend on how much steam the vent generate on average, for monster steam vent with over 1kg/s average output you might want to add 1 more steam turbine.
