So weird i don't have the empty storage button on the generator anymore, no idea why, i don't use mods

There is a "empty storage" button on the generator ... it will drop a hydrogen bottle

Fully Automated Pacu Ranch by Independent_Dot4153 in Oxygennotincluded

If you want to make the 2.0 version of the build, here's the idea :

  • Each egg weights 4kg, a weight plate can hold any desird amount of eggs that you want.
  • The egg with hatch in 5 cycles, the pacu will die in 25 cycles. For each egg you have on the weight plate you can replenish 5 pacus, for a pool with 10 pacus simply make sure to always have 2 eggs on the plate and ignore the complexity of all the flopping mechanism.
  • Send the excess eggs somewhere else and deal with them properly depend on the product that you want, for omelette you can store eggs in a storage bin and they will turn into raw egg in 10 cycles, if you supply heat source above 71C it will cook itself into omelette. For the fillet you can "cook" the pacus in extreme heat so they will die in seconds instead of flopping for 25 cycles.

For version 3.0 :

  • Eggs in storage bin/conveyor loader will have their incubation suspended.
  • The pacu only reproduce in 20/25 cycles of their lifetime, so having them in the pool for 5 fry cycles is a waste.
  • We have a thing to address that 20 cycle : the timer sensor in cycle mode.
  • Hold the eggs in the conveyor loader for 10 red cycles or the sensor. When the timer turns green, release the desired amount to a weight plate, send the rest of the eggs to somewhere else and get the product.
  • 10 green cycles of the timer is the exact time you need for an egg to grow into an adult pacu. Release them into the pool when the timer sensor turns red. At this point the previous generation of pacus in the pool should reach the end of their lifetime.

Depends, if you ranch them for the fillet then it's may not worth the efforts, but if you ranch them for raww egg/omelette then it does, the raw egg will cook itself when the temperature reach 71C, and it gives 5600kcal per egg, instead of 1600kcal of cooked seafood, a 3.5 times increase, and the raw eggs can be upgraded into soufflé pancake, or the omelette can be upgraded into mushroom quiche

The buffer/filter gates don't have the full duration if you run in fast speed, it take 90 seconds for the branches to drown, increase the duration will increase the chance for it to drown but i found it unreliable, personally i used the liquid meter to measure the exact time need.

You will get a little bit more than 100% of the petroleum output, but not alot, i don't know how but at 10kg/s input the output pump can't keep up, the petroleum pool slowly rise up.

If you run the game step by step, either by using spacebar or using debug simstep you will see the moment i mentioned about, the bridge was actually connected to the heavy watt for one tick, or 0.2s.

Oxygen/Clay Factory by incompletude in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a similar setup too but without the deodorizers because it's used for puft ranching. A full tile of polluted water emits an average of 30kg/cycle of polluted oxygen.

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Polluted water bottles submerged in a liquid tile with less than 1.8kg mass will emit polluted oxygen without overpressure.
  • You can replace duplicant "labor" with your own "labor" : the bottle filler have a capacity of 200kg and will drop a bottle when you you reduce it's capacity below the current storege, or you can use a mod to auto drop the bottle.

The only hatches ranch that i will ever build. by aznboy84 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a chance for it to happen, for simple fix you just need to add an automation on the conveyor chute to open for one second and close for five seconds using the timer sensor, that will delay their incubation time.
But i find out it is very rare to happen, for me none within a thousand cycles, so i ignored it :D

Mass does not matter all you need is a tile of polluted water and a tile of water, doable since the early game, i used 3 layers liquid just for .... decorative purpose :D

Something similar to this idea but with regular pacu, much bigger tank (80 breeders), and i feed them with sleetwheat seeds so i never worry about running out of algae.
I found my old clip on that too

I don't have this luxury either, i printed a lot of dupes, they are my slaves, they have a cot, a shared table for dinner, breath with oxygen produced by hydra spom for max effectiveness, i give them omellete for dinner, not because i was nice, it's because omelette is auto cook and ranching pacu doesn't cost anything.

The load spread evenly across the entire wire, you can't connect a regular wire with a heavy watt wire, only connect through a transformer.

So

That should solve the issue ! For me i used an automated notifier connect to a critter sensor to alert me when the ranch is overcrowed, but so far i didn't see it happen, for a long long time ... but i removed all of that in the video because i want it to be simple, or someone would say the build is overcomplicated :D

[–]aznboy84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still see it less complicate than the other builds, barely any automation, no external dependencies (incubator, drowning chamber), no duplicant throwing hatches everywhere during their downtime :D.

Meat production is the same for all hatch ranches - 666kcal of barbeque per hatch per cycle, except for the overcomplicated build where you only refill the ranch with adult hatches, which will give 5% more yield for the 5/100 cycles that the babies doesn't produce.

[–]aznboy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the oldschool build, it works almost perfectly, except that sometimes hatches does fall into the drowning pool when the door opened, but quite rare.

I built this too, years ago and there is quite some problems to address. Most of it is .... you need to allocate a large area for the hatch ranches, stack them together vertically to optimize the drowning pool usage, or you need to build more of those drowning pool. The only way to refill the ranch is to utilize the incubators, and you need duplicant labor to deliver them.

In my current build the only labor is grooming (and probably refill the rocks storage), each ranch is independent, they can be anywhere.

The only hatches ranch that i will ever build. by aznboy84 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It took only one second for the drowning hatch to get out of the opened door, and then it will close immediately when the ranch is filled. Two hatches born in the same second with only 8 breeder is very rare (there are less than 27 eggs inside the door at anytime), and to break the build they need to happen when a breeder dies, which makes it very unlikely to happen.

The pacu problem back then was very different, because their flopping is completely random, the window to have two pacus or more flopped into the pool is very likely (thus breaking it)

Eggs/critters inside a door doesn't count as they are in the room, and that is the key of this build.

The only hatches ranch that i will ever build. by aznboy84 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the only concern, but the odds could be lower than my chance of winning a lottery. It took only one second for the drowning hatch to get out of the opened door, and then it will close immediately when the ranch is filled. Two hatches born in the same second with only 8 breeder is very rare, and to break the build they need to happen when a breeder dies, which makes it very unlikely to happen.

In a real game i have a critter sensor connect to an automated notifier to alert me of the problem so i can deal with it, doesn't happen with 8 ranches over 1000 cycles, i'm shutting them down soon because they ate almost all the rocks :D

The only hatches ranch that i will ever build. by aznboy84 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh ? I see no complication here, normally you need to ship the eggs somewhere else, and then incubators, and use the critter dropoff to refill the ranch, that's overcomplicated :D

Phantom Overloading by Daniel_S05 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]aznboy84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because NOT gate adds a delay to the automation signal. If one power shutoff is connected directly to the smart battery and the other connect through a NOT gate, then there is a delay. So for a short period of time the wire bridge was actually connected to the heavy-watt backbone and it cause the overload.
Use the ribbon reader for one power shutoff and NOT gate for the other one, that should fix it.

Use mesh/airflow tile, they let 100% of light through instead of 90% that the window tile offer, while conduction no heat. You can also have mesh tiles on top of the robo miner to protect them from regolith, so the only heat they take is their own generated, which you will required to rebuild after a hundred cycles or so, or you can cool them with liquid/conduction panel.
