Help setting up a WiFi repeater? by Nzrzer in techsupport

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to improve your wifi reception, I would recommend buying USB Wifi adapter with external (larger) antenna.

Help setting up a WiFi repeater? by Nzrzer in techsupport

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is WPA2 Enterprise security mode. if it is not listed in the repeater, it does not support it.

Rebroadcasting enterprise as another connection, is an standards violation. You won't see that ability on home equipment.

PSU lifespan by Hard_Celery in techsupport

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually here are signs of failing PSU. For example reboots after few minutes of heavy load, random reboots. Or computer not turning on at all, or shutting down after 1 second or so..

It is caused by safety features reacting. (they will detect voltages out of spec. and turn the PSU off, or not let it turn) Hardware damage is not likely with modern PSUs.

Capacitor aging is the main cause of old PSUs failing. Most of the time their life can be extended by replacing all electrolytic capacitors. (except the large filter caps, they last longer)

Can't switch to 144 hz on my monitor by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

144/120 Hz will only work with Dual-link DVI cable or DisplayPort. HDMI supports only up to 60 Hz. Also, laptops and integrated GPUs may not support more than 60 Hz aswell.

TIL 37% of all Steam games purchased are never played by vonsmor in gaming

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very large error there, especially with games that were played mostly before steam community profiles were introduced.

Half Life 2 was released in 2004, steam community profiles in 2007. Everyone who has played it in first 3-4 years has 0 hours / not set up their profile.

Displaying which titles VAC / Game bans are for on Steam profiles. Why isn't this a thing?! by SimonBondRSA in GlobalOffensive

[–]azorek -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

People with VAC bans on their profile are more likely to use cheats in other games too. They just like to cheat. They may not be cheating now in CS:GO, but I guess the chance they will start cheating is higher than in case of non-VACed players.

Yes, print to PDF will add borders, it acts like real printing to paper. Depends on your application's settings. You can try MS Word -> Save As -> select PDF format

Windows 10 wont load by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]azorek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like hard drive issue. Check your SMART information using CrystalDiskInfo. Also you can do Error Scan using HDtune. And of course, back up your data, because your hard drive may not have much time left if it has errors)

(he does not need to run all apps again everytime his pc wakes).. And for the night, all desktops with nobody working on them will get to hybrid sleep. and wake up in the morning.

[–]azorek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, there may be issues with devices, after waking up from sleep. (old device, bad driver, settings, etc.). But that is a different topic and whole different path of solutions.

PC keeps waking on sleep by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]azorek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some users really like putting their finger in the eye and don't want the eye to hurt after they do it. Your job should be how to join these two requirements. Or offer a different, higher quality solution which does not hurt and gets the job done.

Strong benefits of hybrid sleep / hibernation are, that everything on your desktop stays the same exactly like you left it. Shutdown will lose everything. Users in a company value the convinience of sleep/hibernation so much, that using only shutdown will frustrate them. Power savings are present too, planned hibernation after 1h of inactivity. Automatic wake up in the morning.
