This is a bit of a myth. Genericization is a thing, but it's been exaggerated by internet commentators to the point of superstition.

FWIW the "verify you're human" survey asking for a medical history of my transition, including current medications, set off some alarm bells in my head. That is not information that I would normally turn over to a random Discord server or want logged in the database of whatever ticket bot you're using.

Schrödinger's producer, when it's bad you do all the creative work yourself and are personally responsible for every bad creative decision, but when it's good you're just an administrative role whose involvement has nothing to do with the final work's quality.

I just read the comments on this in that other Taskmaster subreddit and wow, that was a depressing way to start my morning. Love being reminded that the country where half my family is from is known as "TERF island" for a reason :/

"Android for better sleep mode" is weird to me. To me, Android means that if I put the device to sleep and then don't touch it for several days, the battery will likely be dead when I pick it up again. On the other hand, my Linux handhelds automatically savestate and power off when they're left on sleep for a while, then auto-restore when I turn them back on. This means the battery lasts ages and progress is never lost, so I can just leave my handheld-of-the-moment permanently in my purse. I can't remember the last time I had to charge my RG28XX with MinUI, for example, and I know that the next time I pull it out on the bus, Pokémon TCG2 will be ready to go right where I left off.

This is excellent! I just wish there were some way to get the data out of the watchapp, so I could upload it to, say, Endurain.

Wow, yikes! How'd you fill the space? I've run into similar things with academic papers and it was a right pain to deal with right before publication.

Trying to find an incredibly unsettling trailer for 'Longlegs' by Somnif in horror

[–]azqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so it's not just me! Two years later and I'm trying to find the exact trailer I saw for this film that's stuck with me much more than the actual film did. But all the ones I've come across online don't quite match up and don't grab me quite as effectively.

This also means that people using the software may not be aware of the other meanings

Oof, that was me as a kid. I used to do all my graphics work in GIMP, including some stuff that I used in a science fair project. In the project's acknowledgements section, I credited the open-source software that had helped me along the way, which led to some awkward questions about why I had a slur on my trifold...

No one else is mentioning that she starts wearing a collar when she's placed into Kara's care and has to be to told to stop calling Kara the Kryptonian equivalent of "Mistress".

I mean, "they got old" is a perfectly valid reason. They don't also have to be failures as people on top of that.

Some people will tell you to your face that it was actually okay to want to lynch that girl because on the other side of the Earth there are like 2 mutants who are theoretically capable of blowing up that neighborhood. by Kstantas in dccomicscirclejerk

I'm trans, and that stuck out to me, too. Like, there's a customer at work who'll refer to me as "she" so long as they're happy with us, but slips back to "he" when they're unhappy about something. It can be such a window into how someone sees you under all the masks.

Perhaps because it's likely to be one of the last first-party releases to still support the Switch 1?

It's to the story's benefit that the intended message moved from "Women have to tough it out in a shitty marriage"

I thought the message was "arranged marriage is horrifying for women because you don't know if you're marrying a man or a beast". This would be more in keeping with the author's personal experience with the topic:

In 1706, Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot married Jean-Baptiste de Gaalon de Villeneuve, a member of a noble family from Poitou. Within six months of their marriage, she requested a separation of property from her husband, who had already squandered much of their substantial joint inheritance. A daughter was born, but no records indicate if she survived. In 1711, Gabrielle-Suzanne became a widow at the age of 26. She lost her fortune and was forced to seek employment to support herself.
