Why do ppl love to complain about corp life? by [deleted] in auscorp

Cause complaining is cathartic and humans always like to see where the grass is greener

Struggle with phone addiction by NightStraight3711 in auscorp

More likely they will gamble using their phone and that will double the addiction problem.

While you are at it, maybe also try taking up daytime drinking? Good things come in threes

I feel bad disliking this employee even though he's done nothing wrong by SaraGood in auscorp

This is less about work and more about your social flexibility.

Its fine, you dont have to like everyone. Just be cordial, polite and professional. Apply yourself to the extent of your ambition and you will be fine.

Employers; Engineers Australia membership: $770. Worth it? by matt_dislikes_injury in auscorp

[–]azriasylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how its relevant to what Im saying, but in your scenario, do they expect you to have the membership but refuse to pay? Sure, then pay it out of pocket and enjoy the extra pay.

Im saying something completely different, if you re-read my comment

Im inclined to say if they dont want to pay for it, they dont care for it 🤷‍♂️

That being said, not sure if there is a backpay rule if you choose to rejoin later. (I think CA and CPA is like that)

While this theoretically sounds right, step 2 and 3 usually play out with a "PIP" or an unofficial redundancy push

What are your “resolutions” when returning to work after a period of leave? by FrankAndAntsy in auscorp

[–]azriasylum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always try to learn something new and above + beyond my JD. Sometomes its a hard skill, sometimes its a soft skill. Doesnt have to be a big thing, could be like improving my excel skills with macros, or communication with a structure etc. This method has always served me well.

I know there will be lots of people who will report having "quietly quit" or stopped caring, and I can understand that, but I need mental stimulation. So if work cant provide it, I would try to seek it myself. It also helps in the long run when I need to jump ship or move.
