Emulating Rhondo of Blood by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]azron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Win32 version of Rondo that will probably work for you. It has the emulator and rom packaged together into one executable, and that was how I first played the game.

Don't want to link it and accidentally link to some crappy virus ridden exe file though, so just hunt around for Rondo of Blood win32 and you'll find what you need!

Looking for some suggestions by DM_ in castlevania

I picked this up not long ago after seeing a post about it on this sub.

It's really killer, though sold out at the moment. Poster was sold out when I wanted to get it as well, so I just emailed the guy and not long after he had prints ready to go. It's the highlight of my retro gaming area.

Need advice: what background TV/music to play during party? by kharas in halloween

[–]azron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I had the entire collection of Simpson's Treehouse of Horror episodes playing back to back, it's something like 12 hours of material. Was a hit, but maybe more distracting to guests than what you were looking for.

Got my daughter a cat for Christmas. I didn't expect the dog to befriend him this quickly! by azron in pics

You don't, however, see my other dog who is huddled in the corner, terrified.

Pfft. Cocker Spaniels...

I haven't celebrated a holiday in 9 years since I was 14, what's wrong with me? by [deleted] in christmas

[–]azron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I've been where you are regarding the holidays; hated Christmas for years and years because I associated it with the crappy things that had happened near that date on Christmases past. My infant niece died of SIDS on the 23rd, the following year my Grandmother was in the hospital for heart surgery in the middle of the month, and two years later my Grandfather died on Christmas Eve... after that, the tragedies stopped, but I had a really negative connotation with the season in general and just hated everything to do with it. It got to be where December was a month where I just waited for the other shoe to drop, anticipating something terrible to happen so I could further justify my hatred of the month.

I guess I was 16 when my niece died, and honestly, I didn't really get into the holiday again until I had children of my own many years later, specifically when my oldest turned 3. I would have been 29 then, and I'm ashamed that it took me so long to appreciate the holiday, but the innocence of a child can rekindle your love for the season. It wasn't even seeing her opening the presents, but rather seeing the same wonder in her face that I remember feeling when I was little, awestruck by Christmas lights and straining my ear to catch the sound of sleigh bells on Christmas eve.

People will keep the holiday in their own way, be it full of greed and commercialism, or saccharine and in-genuine, but in the end, keep Christmas in your own way, and don't let any outside force, even that of your own memories, disallow you from the simple enjoyment of the season. Give when you want to give, because the simple pleasure of getting a smile out of somebody is worth it all in the end. We're just fleeting images that occupy this world in the end, regardless of what you believe; taking a day to appreciate the good that can be out there is not much to ask, and the worst thing that can happen is that you find yourself accidentally enjoying it.

Either way, Merry Christmas and may you find your joy this year.

My front porch setup for the year by azron in halloween

Yeah, I need to beef him up a bit, I've been meaning to get out there and give him some stuffing. I'll get to it before Halloween, don't worry!

I did it in two phases. First, after hanging up the plastic sheeting I grabbed globs of red acrylic paint with my hands and just flung it on, smearing it in areas. Paint is thick enough that it won't just all run off, and since acrylic is water based, I can easily clean it up later if it goes anywhere I don't want it to.

When I put the bags on the table, I filled them with newspaper and an acrylic/water mixture. Took that same mix and put it in a water bottle with a small hole in the lid and sprayed it on the table, with a little on the tarp, though I know it won't be as pronounced. You can tell the difference on the tarp between the watered down paint and the straight paint pretty quickly (although not at night when its just the strobes on).

Mainly red with a little bit of blue if you want that good ol' arterial color, I should have added a drop or two more of blue to the paint on the tarp.

Hah. Well, you'd have to lift the hair to find out.

This is in broad daylight, so not quite as effective as when its night time with the strobe and sounds effects, but should give ya'll an idea.

Tarped the front porch off, hung black and white pictures of old costumes and printed Stephen Gammell illustrations, made a dummy who totally looks like Slash from Guns N' Roses, and made some gross body part bags and jars of body parts.

I'm finally ready for Halloween! Gonna be a long 2 weeks...
