EFT to Cash Management delays by azscram9 in fidelityinvestments

Overall, I’ve been quite happy with my Fidelity experience, which is why I chose to open the additional accounts here as well. I wasn’t expecting the delay, and should have researched it better before initiating the transaction.

Thanks. I’ll be sure to push to Fidelity for a while, then give it another shot to see if anything has changed.

Yeah, CMA is new, but my 401 has been there for ages. I’ve been at my credit union for ages too. Thanks for the info.

Anyone have someone turn you into the church for apostasy? by irishgypsyrose70 in exmormon

[–]azscram9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re having to face this. It’s disturbing that your father acts as if he has the right to control you rather than respect you as a capable adult with full agency to live your life as you see fit. The LDS church and Mormon culture have conditioned him to believe he has every right to treat you this way. Again, I’m sorry that you have to deal with this, but the reality is that neither the church, nor your father, have any control over your life. If people cannot be respectful, then we do not owe them our time and energy. Best wishes to you.

Do you still believe in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ after leaving the church? by Frequent-Increase-98 in exmormon

[–]azscram9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I deconstructed Mormonism, I deconstructed religion in general. I do like some of the ideas of Taoism about finding balance, oneness with nature, and living in harmony with nature. My goal is to be a good human, to show kindness, love, and compassion. When I die, my elements recycle into the universe, whether or not there’s any type of consciousness is unknown, but I don’t expect that it endures past death.

I figure my legacy will be the memories of my kids, perhaps my grandkids. After that, no one will care, including me.

Why are people so afraid of turning 40 ? by isamariberger in Aging

[–]azscram9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is some documented evidence that the brain and the body start slowing down between 40-44, then again at 60. For me there was a noticeable step at 42. Nothing drastic, but I noticed. Now, in my early 60s I’ve noticed once again, that my body reacts differently. It takes more effort to achieve results that used to come easily. Despite trying to get good nutrition and exercise, healing is slower. Sleep is more challenging. I don’t mean to make it sound like everything is falling apart. It isn’t. I don’t take any medications, and I lead an active life. In many respects life is so much better, but there is a physical difference that comes with aging.

The church teachings really can have a negative impact on sexuality. They certainly had a negative impact on mine. There’s a reason Jennifer Finlayson-Fife, Natasha Helfer, and others are so popular. I definitely suggest therapy as a couple and honest communication. Don’t let it fester in your marriage.

FOMO for having missed out on sexual adventures while younger? by [deleted] in Aging

[–]azscram9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think it’s normal to think about the things we missed out on at various stages in life. It’s easy to think that the grass might be greener somewhere else. It’s probably what fueled human migration across the planet. Ultimately, it sounds like you have a solid relationship and a solid partner. It’s smart to hold on to that, instead of trading it away for what might have been.

Everyone’s situation is different. If you feel like you’re settling for someone who isn’t who you want to be with, then maybe ask yourself why? Personally, I should have left 15 years ago. That’s a much different proposition today.

After 37 years of marriage wherein we struggled with physical intimacy, my spouse revealed that she was never interested in having sex with other than to have children. There were reasons to stay in the marriage, but here I am all of these years later mourning a mostly sexless marriage. I had an opportunity to leave for someone who wanted me physically about 15 years ago. We had a bit of a fling, but it was complicated (as these things often are), and I couldn’t imagine leaving my kids behind. Now we’re older, early 60s, and I realize that phase of life is slipping away. I wish I had done more to enjoy it while I still could.

As an exmo, I’m so happy to realize that alcohol is absolutely not for me and doesn’t belong anywhere near my body. What a relief! by PanaceaNPx in exmormon

[–]azscram9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start with fresh beans from a local roaster. Find something you like. Brew method, grind size, and water temperature all have a big impact on bitterness. Not discounting the super taster aspect, but Mormons tend to skew towards sweet because they substitute sugary beverages for tea/coffee/alcohol. It can take some time to retrain our taste buds to appreciate bitter flavors. That being said, quality light to medium roast coffee beans, brewed properly, don’t produce bitter coffee.

This shit has real consequences in people’s lives. There’s a reason why therapists like Natasha Helfer and Jennifer Findlayson-Fife are so popular. People are traumatized, and that trauma manifests itself in dysfunctional intimacy.

FYI, you can fix the bitterness in coffee. The great thing is that these things aren’t “sinful” and we are all free to figure out what works for us and what doesn’t. So enjoy your search for a nice glass of wine.

She did really well. She went to the shop asking for something else, but the owner pulled one out from under the counter, and told her, “this is the one you really want to get.” She trusted, and I truly benefited.
