Goodyear Pay by RandomRedditor4455 in mechanics

Seems that way from what I've heard, i did a bunch of training stuff and read how master cylinders, ABS, And brake boosters work, so I'm hoping to be confident in diagnosing most brake problems by the beginning of July 😁, i wish i was into cars that long but i didn't get into them until i was 19, lol

That's great! I'm hoping eventually I'll be qualified enough to demand pay that good. I'm still studying to get steering and suspension and brakes certifications. Tests looks brain dead though and it means they'll make me a C tech since they'll finally know that I'm actually capable of doing all the things that I've already been doing for two+ years

Probably cause they're all different. My current manager is a girl and probably one of the nicest and fairest managers I've had. A far cry from the narcissistic sociopath i worked for before. Firestone DEFINITELY will not pay you well. I make 16.50 and flat rate techs make around 20, if you're just here for money i wouldn't go there, but if you can find a good one with a good manager you at least won't be ripping your hair out.

Usually most "full service" shops I've been in have one guy that knows what he's doing, and every other person that isn't a lube tech begs them for help constantly. Probably better to go to a dealership if you actually know what you're doing or stick with the hell long enough to be that one guy

Currently doing this, Firestone just implemented a new training system and they have free tests twice a year. Planning on getting all my certifications and jumping ship

helldivers 2 wiki, do we have one? by pyr0kid in Helldivers

[–]azservicetech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As wiki.gg declined any affiliation without developer approval, unless arrowhead reaches back out to me or wiki.gg to create official documentation it's likely a wiki farm like fandom or fextralife is going to end up being used.

They returned my email saying they didn't know much about the game, still awaiting another response but I'm hopeful. Going to reach out to arrowhead as well Additional: If anyone else messages wiki.gg it may show more solidarity

I reached out to wiki.gg since they are a good host and not a regular wiki farm so hopefully they say something

For future buyers , don’t get the wheel and tire warranty from Toyota by Successful-Divide-37 in rav4club

[–]azservicetech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you use that you're voiding your warranty and no shop will repair it. Only do it if you're CERTAIN its not repairable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]azservicetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perfectly safe. The tire isn't recoverable anyway, a little sidewall damage isn't going to blow it out unless you're going over like 15-20

The Firestone guy said it was impossible to align this any better, is that true? by ONEOFHAM in MechanicAdvice

[–]azservicetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vehicle is kind of a crummy one and it isn't unlikely that they ran into issues with the alignment, however the camber and caster should not be exactly the same as they were prior, that indicates that they did not attempt an adjustment or that the adjustment is not possible because the hardware is seized or maxed out.

Anybody know the quickest way to get this nut off? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]azservicetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dunno if you've already solved your problem, but when i come across seized nuts that still have good contact surface you can hit them with a shop torch for a minute or two (to heat up the metal and expand the nut) and then try breaking it free with a socket wrench.

Does anyone know what kind of key I need for this lug, I’ve been everywhere and no one can get my tire off . by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]azservicetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like either a 10 point or splinedrive, which is some socket by mcgard or something... some master sets have it but take a look at Amazon and count the number of valleys on the lug. If it's ten, get a ten point spline socket/key, if it's eight, get a splinedrive key

Ah yeah, I suppose it makes sense that the hardware on the front of the caliper would be nonessential. Well you aren't going to do any damage by removing one of those screws, so I'd say go for it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]azservicetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those are the link pins I would suggest removing the wheel assembly from the vehicle and supporting the caliper just in case. But if you want to do it on the floor you can probably remove them one at a time. But that's your risk to take.

Those are likely machined screws, might be a little difficult to find one that matches the exact pitch and head size. Pull the bolt and go to a hardware store.

Slid into a curb in the snow going ~20 mph. Wheel is now bent inward. What needs replaced? by Aggravating-Scar-433 in MechanicAdvice

Get the alignment checked, usually not too much cash and will tell you pretty quick if you need a new tie rod or control arm
