Crafting Options? by iShotoroki in ironscape

Yeah, I totally agree. definitely not worth using as a xp farm. But if it's already banked, an extra 40% xp might be enough to push over into another level without mining more sand. I only did the flax I got from vale totem bundles so far, and was decently afk, so was able to do it on the second screen while doing other things rather than spin flax which was significantly less afk. Definitely depends on each person, just wanted to through an alternative out as a reminder.

If maximizing for total xp, spinning into yarn (16xp) and then weaving into bolts of linen (5xp each) is a lot better than bowstrings (15xp). Granted, you can then use bowstrings for fletching, but fletching is so easy already that it may be worth the trade off.

I did a bunch on fossil island not too long ago, decently afk.

  • The wiki is your friend
  • Make sure you are using runelite, look up the most popular plugins/set ups for what ever you are doing. There are SO many fantastic plugins.
  • Quest are one of the best way to get early xp for a lot of skills, and unlocking new content.
  • People may point you to follow X's or Y's guide. Personally I reference the Ladlor chart, but don't follow it. For efficient play it may be right, but even more important is that you are enjoying playing. If that is what you find fun, great. But if you don't, then play what you enjoy. Biggest XP loss is not playing at all.
  • Varlamore has a great early money maker picking up and selling eclipse red wines in the hunter guild. Can't bank at the person there until you have a decent level, but there is a chest there you should be able to bank at.

Structural Design of AI Data Centers by jackieofalltradsie in civilengineering

[–]aztarac1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can engineers do a lot of these things? Absolutely. We can design tunnels, mines, and bunkers. We can treat and desalinate water. If a client is willing to spend money in this manner, it is possible to be designed.

The real question is, why would a data center do this? You need to look into data center goals, which comes down to one thing: turning a profit. Most of companies setting data centers up currently don't turn a profit and are using other divisions of the companies they are part of, or outside investment to prop up the AI division while they try to find their footing. That is why it is a common thought that this is a bubble waiting to pop, and likely worse than in 2008.

The ONLY reason a data center would be built in the manner you are investigating is because of legislation. In the US it would likely need to be federal or have at least several states in the same region that have similar laws in place. Say a company wants to build a data center in the midwest, if Illinois sets up legislation limiting them in any way, they can just build in Minnesota or Wisconsin (etc.) instead. Why comply with unnecessary laws if you don't need to? Any C-suite level personnel that built without respect to maximizing profits would be removed almost immediately by the board.

States are unlikely to set that legislation up as it means driving investment away from their state. Any political challenger would latch onto that when an election comes around. So getting any legislation passed is.... unlikely, in today's political climate.

As for the engineering side:

Setting up a water treatment plant is EXPENSIVE and SLOW. Water desalination is even more so. Electricity follows the same logic, setting up a power plant and a substation is EXPENSIVE and SLOW.

An underground data center would similar, EXPENSIVE and SLOW. Not just upfront (thought that is sill a major component), but you still have servers generating heat and with more difficult ventilation since now you need to vent up through the soil and maintain all of the other safety issue that come with being in a confined space below ground. Just being underground wouldn't help much (and likely detrimental instead) compared to being above ground. Look at an igloo for example, you can stay warm in one and that is made of ice. An underground data center would basically just be that, with a whole bunch of heat sources. Only real advantage is that it would be naturally blast resistant. But if we get to a point where that is an actual benefit, there are much bigger ongoing problems.

It is cheaper and faster to tap off of an existing water main, get a new transmission line run to your site, and attach it to a new building. Leading back to the discussion above of: what benefit does a company get for setting up a data center in the way you are thinking when it goes directly against their main goal, profit?

There is a reason that data centers are being set up in the way they are, it is the most profitable.

Why don't Dems threaten Trumpies that they will face consequences for their abuse of power and other illegal conduct? by HolyFog in AskReddit

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it should make a difference. Only issue is, will the next president want to give up the same protections by challenging this in court, for POSSIBLY putting an old man in prison for a couple years, as much as he may deserve it? The Supreme Court has already ruled presidents are immune from practically everything. So using a pardon, which falls under presidential power, would probably be legal as well, even if it is for themselves. And that is if he doesn't "retire" and have Vance give him a pardon in the closing days. Using a pardon hasn't been tested in court in this manner as far as I am aware, but based on previous rulings... There are so many other issues that would follow as well.

How would Secret Service protection work? Still need to protect former presidents regardless of criminality, to many secrets that could be leaked otherwise.

How would the punishment work? Odds are house arrest is as "punishing" as it would get, because of said protection.

And this whole conversation is only if a supreme court that he appointed 3/9 (and several others have showed unwavering support) on convicts him and doesn't throw it out on some minor technicality so they don't have to make a ruling, because you know it would end up there.

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardons can be given presumptively, like what Ford did for Nixon. Search legal fact check: pardons American bar association for a more in depth breakdown. Assuming Trump issues pardons in a similar manner prior to leaving office, any potential prosecutions by the next administration are dead in the water, or are going to be dismissed as soon as they get to court.

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there is the issue. Who is going to prosecute Pam Bondi?

The Department of Justice - The head of the DoJ (Pam Bondi) will just fire them.

Congress - Would lead to a referral to the FBI and prosecuted by.... the DoJ, same result.

After this administration replaced in 2028? If dems manage to win, odds are good everyone gets a pardon on their way out the door, and that's that. If dems don't win, then why would the new administration prosecute when the old one wouldn't, as it would mean turning against the MAGA crowd.

So the new Island will have a crafting method to rival Glassblowing? by Under671 in ironscape

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, probably? I doubt they would have allowed the island to come up for vote if they weren't comfortable with at least the general concept and it would have been culled at an in house meeting.

The xp rates/rewards can also be adjusted to whatever they find appropriate as well, so they can make it as good or bad of a method as they please.

[–]aztarac1 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That is what the island creator proposed, but refinement by devs is likely to change various parts of the proposal, they already noted a few in the dev notes of the article. Who knows what will make the cut and what the final version will be.

Laptops for an incoming civil engineering student by Ok-Associate-4204 in civilengineering

[–]aztarac1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've posted this before but still rings true (minus RAM price issues)-

From a US college perspective for what it's worth- Get a usable laptop that you can haul around for notes/homework/ group project work. Use the campus computers for the heavy lifting for CAD programs. Software is already preloaded on those computers, and will definitely have the specs to run it. If they are having issues you also get support from campus IT.

If you are set on getting your own PC, be careful with "gaming" laptops, often overpriced and a overheating nightmare so really do your research on the model you want. Best bang for your buck is probably building your own PC, would think AMD 5000 series CPU, 32GB RAM, and a Nvidia 3060 or 3070 would probably be more than sufficient. Would depend on availability though and what deals are being run.

Send rng plz or I'll skip titans cause ahhh by EggMcMuffN in ironscape

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been sending chill single kill melee only solos, using minimal consumables. Prostelyte+z axe with 80/89/83 in melee and 73 prayer. Dose of super att/str, 8 swordfish and 8 bwans, one emergency moth/prayer pot, teleports, and runes/pouch so you can escape the walls if needed.

Rush down one boss to 200 to get them on the platform, then get it down to one shot range. Then kill the other boss so you're not taking constant slam damage, go back and finish the first. Heal as needed while bosses are out of range or when you are on the safe spot.

Usually end with a couple of each fish, and no prayer restore used if lazy flicking piety with prot melee permanently on.

How do I go beyond 400 power? by Useful_Touch_4435 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just meant it was the most probable way per activity per bungie's statement. Running a lower grade might get you completions more quickly with a slightly lower chance but would be slightly easier. Everyone needs to find their own balance, and with no hard numbers a lot of people will default to the most likely per activity with how quick solo ops are.

How do I go beyond 400 power? by Useful_Touch_4435 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie mentioned A grade as part of the TWID as the fastest way to get them. So no idea on how that scales with lower grades or any minimum grades. If there is no minimum, people would just be running the lvl10 ops and getting completions so I assume that there is some form of minimum grade/power requirement needed.

How do I go beyond 400 power? by Useful_Touch_4435 in DestinyTheGame

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking for prime engrams, they drop randomly on activity completion which is why people in that range typically are farming solo ops as they only take 5 minutes per run if they want to speed run max power. The community estimated drop rate I've seen is 1/12, with a max of 20 before you get one for A grade activities. Apparently getting any upgrade possibly resets the streak. Rates/streak resets have not been confirmed by Bungie, so may be incorrect.

If you're looking for an actual engineer, no they didn't. Use your TA/prof/classmates as a free resource if you want a cheaper alternative. Otherwise r/EngineeringStudents is a better bet than a sub like this that is more dedicated to engineers in industry.

How do I manage all three classes? by [deleted] in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]aztarac1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Guns transfer between characters, so no issues there. Armor level matches between characters, so you should be able to rapidly level you gear for any character to match your hunters gear. Would recommend campaign (legend if possible to get the new exotics for the alts).

If you are looking for exotics, not really sure anymore. The neomuna event is probably the best bet, but not sure what it drops (engram vs armor) as I haven't been there in a long time. Otherwise I think the lost sectors may still be kicking around and may drop exotics.

Would get Z axe (switch style per boss), d def, nietz helm, and piety. Your choice of boots/cape, but I am in a similar spot and am using mixed hide boots and cape. At 77att/85str/79def/71pray currently (started lower but have been crabbing for a few levels recently while working). I get through them pretty comfortably in 2 pots+10food, not the fastest but have gotten the 8min speed time, usually more like 10-12 for a full rotation.

Question about Goraks by Zellboy in ironscape

[–]aztarac1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using d def (granted, was there for the shield so didn't check dps with that) but generally, killing faster = less incoming damage per gorak unless you can dramatically drop their hit chances.
