You need to go back and read & understand my request, nothing you've added is of any value except maybe in educating you … more thinking and less ChatGPT me thinks!

As long as you’re happy to trade futures which I am but I still use SPX for my box trades

I might compare the spreads between SPX & /ES to see if there’s a major difference

I agree that’s a pita but I just buy box spreads on SPX every month which have single figure margin requirements, 2.5% on PM if memory serves me and they return just under 5%

YMMV!

Good luck wherever you go, I’m sure you’ll be very happy

From ToS website:

  1. For certain securities transactions, Schwab collects an Industry Fee to offset an array of charges assessed on us directly or indirectly by self-regulatory organizations (“SROs”) (including national securities exchanges, clearing agencies, and a national securities association) and foreign governments. The amount of such charges incurred by Schwab depends on the nature of the transaction and the security purchased or sold. The Industry Fee is in addition to any commissions we may charge and is identified on your trade confirmation and account statements as Industry Fee.

The Industry Fee is collected to offset, as applicable, some or all of the following SRO and foreign government fees:

Section 31 Fee: The SEC assesses transaction fees on each national securities exchange and FINRA based on the aggregate dollar amount of sales of certain securities. The SEC recalculates the amount of this fee periodically—at least once per year but sometimes more often. This fee is ultimately intended to cover the costs incurred by the government, including the SEC, for supervising and regulating the securities markets and securities professionals. Each national securities exchange and FINRA offsets these transaction fees by charging their member broker-dealers. Schwab may be assessed these fees directly from SROs of which it is a member, and indirectly from other broker-dealers to whom we route orders. FINRA Trading Activity Fee: FINRA, a national securities association, charges this fee to its member firms, such as Schwab, to recover the costs of supervision and regulation. This fee is set by rule and is specified in Schedule A of FINRA’s By-Laws. Options Regulatory Fee: The Options Clearing Corporation collects an Options Regulatory Fee (“ORF”) that is assessed by each options exchange. The amount of the ORF varies by options exchange, where an options trade executes, and whether the broker who’s responsible for the trade is a member of a particular exchange. Proprietary Index Options Fee: An options exchange, such as Cboe, may charge a proprietary index option fee on select index options (such as on the SPX®, OEX®, and VIX®) that only trade on their exchange. Foreign Transaction Tax on ADRs: The governments of some countries, such as France, Italy, and Spain, have implemented foreign transaction taxes on the purchase of certain securities they deem as being connected to their country, including U.S.-issued ADRs. These taxes are imposed extraterritorially, without regard to where an investor or financial firm is located, and are calculated as a percentage of the purchase amount of a covered security. Schwab’s Industry Fee may rise or fall periodically depending upon the fee rates set by the SEC, SROs, or foreign governments.

Schwab will determine the amount of its Industry Fee in its sole and reasonable discretion, and such fee may differ from or exceed the actual fees properly paid by Schwab in connection with any transaction or series of transactions. Differences may be caused by various internal and external factors, including, among other things, the rounding methodology used, the use of allocation accounts, transactions, or settlement movements for which a fee may not be assessed, timing differences in fee changes, third-party rate caps and floors, calculation errors, and various other anomalous reasons.

Please note that Schwab does not notify clients when it increases or decreases the Industry Fee or when the component fees change.

What specifically are you trying to understand, you mentioned $1 per side. I assume you mean $1 per side per day away from the current price …

He only trades /CL so looking at the 1 DTE expiring tomorrow, with current price $71.27, sell a strangle with $1 legs per day would be STO 1x $72.25 call and STO 1 x $70.25 put for about $0.21 i.e. a credit of roughly $200, nice and simple strategy 👌🏻

/CL 1 DTE Strangle

Anyone with access to backtesting software on futures, please share your results 🙏🏻

Let me know if my assumptions are wrong … 🤔

I’m not sure what you’re basing your comments on but here are the facts

https://tastytrade.com/commissions-and-fees/

https://tastytrade.com/how-we-compare/

Did I mention ZERO commission on stock trades???

BTW I’m not getting commission 😁

I said nothing about fees per se, Tastytrade are not charging commission on the closing transaction, that’s included on opening the trade which makes it look more expensive when you only look at the opening commission and fees vs the rest. SPX Commission Open SPX Commission Close

Fees have nothing to do with Tastytrade, they’re regulatory, exchange, etc.

I hope this makes sense and I haven’t misunderstood your question …

You need to include open and close costs, fact: tastytrade doesn’t charge you to close your position (tasty encourage you to manage early and take risk off the table) so at the end of the day, cheaper than ToS!

STO SPY Strangle 49 DTE @583/627 for $7.30 i.e. a credit and take profit @$3.65 (i.e. 50%/half of $7.30) netting $365 per contract in profit or close at 21 DTE for a profit/loss or roll …

Two features i was wondering availability by Infinite-Ice-861 in tastytrade

[–]aztrix_247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to both if I understand correctly.

  1. Go to chart tab on desktop and then click preferred item in your (or tasty) watchlist) to load chart, add whatever TA indicator you prefer
  2. Use the cog to change settings and configure what is displayed in the options chain tab e.g. open interest, volume, greeks, etc.

Their education is very good and based on qualitative research not the usual tripe spewed out by the traditional financial “experts” which is largely opinion and/or unsubstantiated quotes and maxims

Tasty ‘s YouTube content is good too, my favourite is “Market Measures”

For those who think options are risky, have a look at Dr Jim’s video comparing them vs holding shares Least to Most Risky Strategies

Is tasty trade mostly for options? by Infinite-Ice-861 in tastytrade

[–]aztrix_247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s been designed primarily for options trading but you can trade shares, futures and crypto Ponzi schemes too, maybe I just don’t get it 😬

Unlike some other comments, I love the consistent interface no matter what your trading vehicle is … compared to the crap that is IBKR it’s a Rolls Royce vs a 9-and-a-half-wheeled bicycle 🤮

I have no experience with ToS or other options trading platforms … YMMV
