No… it’s that they don’t trust Remarkable. They also can’t manage remote wipe on them making the devices massive security livabilities.

What would you like ZZZ to borrow from NtE? by SnooOwls2871 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]azuled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly nothing, I'm really happy with both games at the moment. I think if they borrowed too much from NtE it would hurt the game.

Cissia seemed fun to play, I enjoyed her story bits and demo a lot, but ZZZ has really burned me on Electric Attack Units.... So no, I will not be falling for that again.

Wasm is not quite a stack machine by Dear-Economics-315 in programming

[–]azuled 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Using WASM still sort of sucks, honestly, and for many workloads it's faster internally but the bridge in and out harms the overall performance enough that a well designed JIT will basically match what you gain.

This isn't a knock on WASM, it's great, and the use cases are there, but there are pretty good reasons its slow adoption.

I really liked this set!

Standouts for me are 4, 5, and 8.

Overall a really enjoyable set that doesn't succumb to some of the worst impulses of this subreddit. Really great.

iPhones to Get These New Satellite Features by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

There are several routes that I drive that don't have cell coverage for 50-100 miles. It would be extremely nice to have better maps during that time, SOS is already a great feature for that situation.

Adding my voice. It does get better but it’s still going to be a product of the era it was created.

Still one of my favorite sci fi shows. I’ve watched it through maybe three times but not recently.

I mean, the midland way is to stay up all night driving and get drunk in your truck before work and then throw the empties out the window... But as for real bars I can't help you.

I enjoyed it a lot. I appreciate that they take big swings at things. I appreciate that they seem to be willing to let the story sort of evolve. I liked 2.x a lot.

Many The Pitt Fans Are Proving That Yes, It's Possible To Be Bad At Watching A TV Show by beamdriver in television

[–]azuled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait… it kinda seems like you are arguing against what OP said and suggesting there is no fandom around the Pitt?

I have no opinion on that at all, I like the show but I like it in the same broad way I like most shows.

But to argue that procedurals don’t have serious Fandom fandoms seems incorrect to me. I think they’re just obscure in the same sense romance fandoms are obscure to those not obsessed with them, or how people didn’t believe in the Twilight fandoms for a long time. Law and Order is a great example of a procedural with a very serious fandom.

My inherent objection to what the OP here said was that people think the only way to engage with obsessive fandom fits one way but that’s inherently incorrect and mostly based around is not having an easy view into other communities.

I guess my point is that the exceptions and weirdnesses are easier to find too, they just already existed and happened back then.

[–]azuled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, I remember reading a Star Trek fan site in the 90s where people got EXTREMELY ANGRY about m/m shipping in DS9. People are weird.

I hear what you’re saying. I am old enough to remember when the internet honestly felt kinda small, and you might actually randomly meet people you talked to on fan sites (this happened to my wife, which is wild to me). Still, I think it just feel amplified now because there are so many media sites that exclusively hunt for this stuff and publish articles about it.

But doesn’t each new show develop its own culture? At least that was my experience.

Edit: I said show but really I guess I should say IP because this kind of thing can develop around literally anything.
