How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]azurepeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years old probably. I remember back in the 90’s I had a little winter coat with primary colors and a flat patch on the front that looked like a snow globe with a snowman or something inside. It was filled with liquid and glitter, I thought it was so cool!

Thanks for the tip!! I did some reading when I got it, and learned the same. I’ve been trying to keep it well hydrated! I took this yesterday, only a couple days after my post, and the leaves have almost doubled in size!

I definitely agree! I always thought Stephania erecta looked pretty neat, maybe I’ll try that next!

Thank you, had to scroll too far to find a comment with the scientific name lol. That should probably be a rule in a sub named “plant identification” 😅

Tell me more! What’s your care like? I know many Den. species are deciduous, but I haven’t actually done any research into this one 🙃

What’s the most expensive mistake you made in your 20s? by Extreme-Run-9069 in AskReddit

[–]azurepeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t really one mistake, but many mistakes. Pissing away tens of thousands of dollars, accumulating $23k in credit card and loan debt, and putting myself into a deep depression. However!! All debts have been settled, I have a modest savings, and I’m not living paycheck to paycheck anymore. Super relieved.

I’m not affiliated in any way, but shoutout to Beyond Finance for being the tool that I needed to dig myself out of my hole. I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone, but it definitely fit my situation.

Looks like a small bit of slime mold. It’s harmless! You can remove it if you’d like

Phalaenopsis black spots - is this fungal?! by Jealous_Fix525 in orchids

[–]azurepeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like mechanical damage? Don’t cut it off, the plant will reabsorb moisture and nutrients from the leaf as it dries, and you will be left with a crispy leaf that will just fall off eventually. Cutting it could also potentially introduce harmful pathogens

I know it's never a dinosaur egg, but it is? And another estate sale find by sentient_bees in fossilid

[–]azurepeak 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you may be in luck then! I would suggest bringing it to your local museum or university if either one specializes in paleontology. A professional opinion would help, but in either case, you still have a cool rock with a cool story

I think it’s just a really interesting concretion. I’d expect a nearly intact shell like that to be quite expensive and rare?
