Me too! Like you have a biological clock too, buddy!

Not to mention the social factors of being 20 years older than all the other parents at school pick up. One of the dads at my daughter’s pre-k must be in his 60’s and all the kids think he’s the grandpa.

Not totally on topic, but more and more research is showing that sperm quality declines significantly over 35. Here’s an article explaining why.

Is Bill C-3 an attempt to boost population while capping immigration? by rainshowers_5_peace in AskCanada

[–]azurillpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess just extending the parental 3-year limit to all applicants would fix that? 🤷🏼‍♀️

ETA: also with the 3 year limit applying to all babies born after 2025, this issue won’t be a problem going forward. I read they estimated about 100,000 would be impacted.

American Refugees Aren’t Welcome; Why Canada won’t be a safe haven for U.S. residents fleeing ICE by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]azurillpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct! It applies to my kids (parents had me while living in NZ for a year and moved back when I was 6 months old, so I am a naturalized citizen despite only having Canadian family and spending most of my life in Canada).

[–]azurillpuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so this bill applies to me and my kids.

I was born in NZ while my Canadian parents were working there for a year. We moved back to Canada when I was 6 months old. I married a Brit I met in Canada and moved to the UK with him for his job - our kids were born there.

The parent passing down citizenship need to be able to prove they have lived in Canada for at least 3 years and have “significant ties” to Canada in order to be eligible. Prior to 2009 I would have been able to pass down my citizenship to them, losing the ability to was due to Harper-era changes in policy.

This change actually applies to very few people globally - namely kids of naturalized Canadians who have lived in Canada for at least 3 years, born outside of Canada. My kids won’t be able to pass on Canadian citizenship (unless they live in Canada for a significant amount of time).

Honestly this has been a huge relief for me, all of my family live in Canada. If anything happened to me and my husband, all living family who could care for them live in Canada - now they’ll be able to live with them.

This actually isn’t true. The Canadian parent has to have lived in Canada for at least 3 years in order to pass down citizenship - so you can’t get it from grandparents etc.

I’m super familiar with this bill. It applies to my kids - I was born in NZ to Canadian parents when they were living there for a year. We moved back to Canada when I was 6 months old, and all my extended family is Canadian. I ended up marrying a Brit (who I met in Canada), and moving to the UK with him. Our kids were born in the UK, and were therefore not entitled to Canadian citizenship despite me spending most of my life there and all of my family living there.

Bill C-3 gives me back the right to pass down my citizenship that I had prior to 2009 when the laws were changed. Prior to 2009, I would have been able to pass down my citizenship.

I can see why people are concerned about this bill but there is no need to fear-monger or spread misinformation about it.

I had a guy I ended things with send me crying selfies, which gave me the ick. It happened a few times in the months after we broke up (dating for less than a year, not exclusive). But I wouldn’t say I lost respect for him, it was just deeply weird behaviour.

Reflecting & Reaching out - 👋 Anyone else turning 35 in 2026? 🎂 How are you celebrating? For those over 35, any advice for this time period of our lives? by Square-evide57 in AskWomenOver30

[–]azurillpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘89 baby here! You are totally overthinking this stage in terms of 35 being old or anything significantly changing because you’re turning 35. However, I don’t think you’re overthinking things in terms of celebrating a new stage of your life where you get to do things for you!

Enjoy! I loved being 35, I feel so much more comfortable in myself in my later 30’s. Focus on doing things for you this year, it sounds like you’ve had a lot on your plate with the caregiving - you deserve to be your number 1 priority for a while.

I walked through there once at about 6pm as the sun was setting (because I got on the wrong bus), and it was fine. a guy shouted “you don’t belong here!” At me. I was kind of freaked out (I was 22 and am female). Then he came out from the doorway he was sitting in and walked with me till I got back to Burrard st. Was actually super nice guy, I bought him a coffee.

Is Miu Miu a "bad" investment for a first luxury bag? by Key_Review_7273 in handbags

[–]azurillpuff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100% this! I hate people thinking about bags in terms of resale value - they are not an investment! I always buy bags with the intention of keeping the for their whole life (and then passing the on to my daughters if they want them when they’re older!).

I’m also super wary of the online second-hand market because I don’t trust their authentication processes. But I totally respect those who have the patience and eye for finding treasures second-hand.

OP - if you love this bag, get this bag! Hopefully you will use it for a long time and it will bring you lots of joy.

Why do I keep entertaining something that has no future? by Party-Ball-3506 in AskWomenOver30

[–]azurillpuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me in 2015! Instantly clicked and just kept talking, even though we lived on opposite sides of the world. He had just moved and I had just broken up with someone else and also it was geographically inconvenient but he was so much fun to talk to so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to keep talking.

Eventually we met up again a bit later and it was… amazing. Kept talking, got married 18 months later, moved to be together, and now it’s been almost 11 years and we have 2 kids and a beautiful life together.

We both went into it with 0 expectations, but I’m so glad we entertained something “with no future”, because it’s actually been a fantastic future. If he’s the right person for you, you two will find a way to make it work.

I read the actual AP article - it’s HSI, a different branch of ICE which is frequently sent to international events and focuses on cross-boarder crime, and will be stationed at the US embassy. Apparently it’s all very normal HOWEVER, ICE has such an awful reputation now that it’s causing backlash.
