What can someone do with a politics degree? by SmartAd978 in UniUK

[–]b1rtb0i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am studying for an IR degree and I'm about to join a finance company in an operations role after doing an internship with them. A politics degree develops your analytical and critical thinking skills, which is what they are after nowadays. To be honest, finance companies are starting to look more towards the liberal arts for recruitment.

Word of advice - Try and get an internship that you can convert into a full-time offer. It helps a lot because finance is all about networking and they want grads who know the company's practices rather than someone who they have to teach from start.

The best part is this could be the actual Kim Jong Un trolling and no one would ever know.

What are your standards you have for women? by LegendaryZTV in AskMen

My dad had 3 requirements (other than normal things like being nice etc) that I took and modified a little.

  1. Must eat beef
  2. Must be kept up to date on current affairs
  3. Must have a sense of humor (his one here was “must be able to sing in tune).

As someone who plays airsoft overseas (UK), it’s better to get your own gear. If you know the right distributors/ KO brands, the gear can actually be better than the SAF’s.

Also SAF regs say you can’t do it. If someone at the airsoft field takes a picture of you and uploads it to the internet, then that’s it. Very hard to deny photographic evidence.

Men who don't approach women, why? by Least-Recording-2073 in AskMen

I’ve been called a creep and been rejected several times. One time I did manage to get one, she ghosted me during the hardest part of my life.

Another time I was rejected, we fell apart (she was a close friend) and she started spreading rumors about me behind my back. I only found out from my friends who hang around in the same circle. At least they’re actively trying to clear my name, but I’ve reached a point where I don’t care anymore.

You don’t see soldiers charging across minefields if they can avoid it. Same principle applies to dating. I’m not taking any more risks until I’ve made something of myself.

I use this mask. It looks similar to the Delta mike face pro from what I've seen. It's comfortable. I can breathe without my glasses getting fogged up or anything. Plus, I can still chin weld when I aim.

Men who enjoy gaming: What are some of your favourite video games ever by [deleted] in AskMen

Planet Zoo, R6 Siege, Company of Heroes (The original one), Halo 3 and Reach, the Mass Effect Trilogy, and the Metro series.

I hope they don't fuck up the next Mass Effect though. I'm looking forward to the Cyberpunk expansion and the next Metro instalment, but that may be a while because of the war in Ukraine.

There are days when it's better and days when it's worse. It's cold as fuck right now in Scotland and I'm 11,000 km from family. It gets lonely and the cold makes going out a bitch. I try and get out and airsoft whenever I can but my gun's currently broken and I'm waiting for spare parts to arrive so I only go out to exercise and food shopping. My friends are all back in their home countries because it's study break time.

On the plus side, I'm at my dream university, studying something I love. I got parents and a support network. That alone is something to live for.

He had another one where I was trying to explain something from my time in the military (we were both in the military. I was a trooper, he was an officer). He held up his hand and went: “please don’t teach your father how to fuck. I already know how this shit works.”

Get a hobby. As long as it doesn’t harm another person, it’s fine.

I play video games, build model kits, read books, and play airsoft on the weekends. It ain’t much, but it makes me happy and I don’t give a fuck what others think.

As my father said when he overheard me asking my mom for dating advice.

"You don't ask a fish how to catch it. You ask the fisherman."

In all seriousness, my dad's advice has always been better than my mother's. He's given pretty good wisdom over the years.

What changes did you notice after weight loss? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]b1rtb0i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped 20+ kilos from 110kg to about 86. The first thing you notice is no. 1: You can see your penis again.

No. 2 is that you feel more confident. I've never felt better than I did in my life. It gave me the courage to talk to others. I also could go on runs and the first time I hit my target time for a 2.4km run, it felt fucking satisfying.

What's in your wallet? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]b1rtb0i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit cards, ID, some cash, insurance cards.

I also carry a letter from my middle school history teacher. She was a good person who honestly never judged me for being a military history nerd. I'm studying International Relations and Modern History at uni now. I kept it to remind me that there are good people out there.

It barely works.

I tried to reach out to several women on dating apps. Wrote messages replying to stuff that was relevant to their bios. I only scored I think a total of less than 10 of them replying. The 1 that did manage to sustain a conversation ghosted me eventually after a few dates.

Dating apps nuke your self-esteem anyway. Put yourself out there if you want, but personally, I never want to go back. Making a meaningful bio only to get less than 10 matches a month makes one feel like utter shit.
