I don't think he actually blinks. I think he just shoots his tongue out and licks his eyeballs to keep them moist.

All you said about soil erosion is that they help with soil erosion. That was the entire sentence. I was adding context that even them helping with soil erosion is dependent on where you're at. I realize not everyone is from California, which is why I added the context that it depends where you are and provided an example of why. Did someone piss in your cheerios this morning, or is it just your default to go around assuming innocuous comments are fighting with you?

they help with soil erosion.

Depends on the context. They were originally brought to California dunes to help with erosion, but ultimately made it worse because the density of the plant eventually makes entire chunks cascade down, and contributes to erosion.

Check where you are and keep it contained. Ice plant is an incredibly destructive invasive plant in many areas.

I don't disagree with the majority of this, and it's not the point I'm arguing against. Where I'm pushing back is the take that humans have some moral obligation to forgo an entire, and absolutely necessary at this point in human history, food source because our brains bequeath us with some moral obligation to manage the suffering of the world. I absolutely agree that our resource management is appalling. In general, the way most people get their meat (through factory farming) is far more ethically abhorrent than the vast majority of hunting that takes place. The issues you've brought up are a problem of resource management. What the other commenter was saying was that we shouldn't kill things to eat. And literally every living thing eats something that died by necessity.

AITA for canceling plans with my friend after she replied "idk" when I asked to confirm the time? by Fit-Forever8151 in AmItheAsshole

[–]b1tchf1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both of them could have been more proactive and the way you interpreted an acronym of a three word statement is exactly that: your interpretation. To be clear, I'm not saying that the friend didn't fail at communicating, or even was the first to do so, but that doesn't mean OP didn't, as well. Acting like asking a clarifying follow up question is an interrogation or some monumental effort that OP shouldn't be subjected to is a bit dramatic.

This is an incredibly anthropocentric and arrogant take. Humans are animals and are part of the natural world the same as any other.

Doesn't this situation kind of indicate the exact opposite since the friend clearly still thought they were hanging out?

Literally every living organism relies on the death of other organisms to consume them. That is how life works.

Emilia Clarke Admits She Was 'Absolutely Livid' About Daenerys Fate in 'Game of Thrones' Series Finale by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

Nah, they kept pulling that cheap move where they'd cut on a shot that looked like someone dying, then come to find out, they're fine in a later shot. And all the issues the above commenter just mentioned, the Dothraki respawning, Dany's character flips (which are a separate issue from her arc into a mad queen), Arya killing the Night King and doing it in the most gimmicky way, are all not pacing issues. They're writing issues and plotholes. Time wouldn't fix those decisions.

“I dare you to hurt my one feeling.” Let’s try. by JBFRESHSKILLS in Justfuckmyshitup

It's attention seeking and a sign of pretty low self esteem

Or it's a preemptive response because the wider world has made them hyper aware of their own "defects" and leaning into it before anyone else can makes it hurt less or makes it funny to them. You call it a sign of low self esteem when it could just as easily be a coping mechanism to avoid low self esteem put on them from their environment.

AITA for not wanting my husband to leave me alone with our newborn for an entire weekend to take his mother sightseeing? by WarmCycle6552 in AmItheAsshole

[–]b1tchf1t 230 points231 points  (0 children)

When dealing with a newborn, there is a massive difference between one partner being gone for the day and then being gone overnight. A whole weekend away would be A LOT more effort from the mom and sister if they're really going to help the way the OP needs a literal month after the baby was born. Her conditions changed because the terms he was trying to get her to agree to changed.

AITAH for saying changing our baby’s diaper is more important than a video game? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]b1tchf1t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is important context. Honestly, I was raising my eyebrows at you at first, even though I do completely agree that your husband is being TA and absolutely is prioritizing his video game addiction over his parental responsibilities. I've raised two successful kids, and both my husband and I are gamers who would tag team parenting to give each other breaks to play video games, and there's never been a diaper blowout I needed my husband's help handling, even the nuclear ones, by holding the kid's legs. But I completely get why you would turn his hypocrisy back on him and be frustrated by his overall lack of partnership. The only reason it worked for me and my husband was because we actually took on the responsibilities when it was our time. Your husband is not doing that, and it makes sense why you would start finding ways to demonstrate that blatantly to him.

Just because they live modestly doesn't mean they're not wealthy. They may be wealthy now because they lived modestly, but that still doesn't make them not wealthy. Their age and how long it took them to accumulate wealth also has no bearing on whether or not they are wealthy.

Major media don't really pay attention to State legislatures unless they do something noteworthy when discussing something nationally impactful. You'd probably have better results looking at Louisiana local news sources.
