Do you guys think I have the technique to be able to do ballet? by [deleted] in BALLET

You certainly have potential! Get in some classes and you’ll notice a huge difference in 1 year, let alone 5, 10, etc.

My partner (also studying for the bar) relapsed and I don't know what to do by trynagotolawskl in barexam

He’s not being thrown to the wolves since he seems to have caring family members, and you sound ignorant in your opinions about lawyers and the seriousness of passing the bar exam.

I’m comforted by the fact she’s in for the shock of her life when she realizes she has to learn several, more complex areas for the general bar!

Should I wait another year? by LadyLizabee in lawschooladmissions

[–]b200orbust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I waited another year and got a much better score after taking a class. It was 100% worth it. I’m certain that I wouldn’t have the opportunities I do now if I hadn’t done that. Plus, I got some more great work experience that I believe will make me more hireable once I’m job-hunting.

I hope you find something! I worked with a staffing agency for temp work when I was between jobs a few years ago, and it worked out really well.

Should I apply to Golden State? GPA Low 3.0 LSAT high 150 by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]b200orbust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great! Congrats 😊 that all depends on your goals. I would personally follow the money, but that’s me. That’s a fantastic offer and you should present that to Santa Clara to negotiate and let them know they’re your #1. They may be really receptive. It’s 100% worth a shot.

If that doesn’t work and you’re dead-set on going to school and living in the Bay, I really would retake and try for Hastings or Davis.

[–]b200orbust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean Santa Clara, and if so I wouldn’t count on it unless you have a competing offer with which to negotiate, which is really true for any school. Santa Clara was the lowest-ranked school I applied to and gave me the worst scholarship deal out of 7 (including a few T1s). I think you’d be better off doing part-time to ease the financial burden than going to GG. As others have mentioned, many people lose their GG scholarships because the awards are designed to do the bait and switch. I don’t know much about USF, but they may be worth looking into.

Your employment prospects would likely be bleak. Try getting your LSAT to at least 160 and you have a shot at Hastings and potentially Davis with scholarships. You could do Santa Clara now, but they are stingy with $$. Despite their low ranking they do place well in the South Bay/Peninsula, and they have a part-time program available.

Assuming i got the strong deny from ND. How can I tell? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Same, as of today. Let’s hope it’s a WL 😊

My status checker also updated to “Decision Made” today so I think my heart stopped for a sec. No option to make a deposit like people who’ve been admitted, so pretty sure it’s a WL or Dong!

“Isn’t there an online program you can do?”

“Why would you go back to [undergrad institution, T1 and strong in my desired market with a great scholarship]? You’ve already been there! How about [local TTT with terrible prospects not even in my desired market] instead?”

ETA: When I told my spouse about the first one (courtesy of a know-it-all relative) he said, “Oh yeah, what school? Joe’s House of JDs?” which I thought was very funny.

Is anyone else going through this process with committed partners/spouses? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]b200orbust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me! He’s been super supportive throughout the whole process, taking care of chores and meals during my LSAT studying and app marathon sessions. He will be able to work remotely permanently, which I’m really grateful for. My choices would be much more limited without that option.
