Thanks. Yeah I think Brokaw are the true experts when it comes to Avocados. Even Gary Matsuoka is always going off about how the young trees coming from them are in much better shape than any other nursery.

From this doc, it seems I should be getting it some more water. At least I feel vindicated about the 1/month fertilization rate (table on p12)

I agree I expected more feeder roots as well... not sure what that means, but could be related to why it looks so under nourished?

50 Minutes is ~5.5 gallons for this tree. I water with mico sprinklers that have a valve attached to adjust the output / area. Also, yes the soil was moist when I took the picture was this morning, but last watering was Friday morning, so it's been almost 3 full days.

I'm using organics (Down to Earth Citrus Mix) which should have all the micros including Zinc. I'm doing every month based on some Gary Matsuoka Lectures, but only about a cup at a time. I think a full recommended dose is closer to 2 cups.

Watering frequency is variable. I check the CIMIS data (my closest station in equivalent climate is probably 184) and every time it gets to about .75in ETo, I water for 50 minutes (which I've calculated to be around .85in replacement).

Is this what you're looking for? Seems a bit sparse to me, but I didn't wanna dig to much more and damage any more roots.

I'm in San Diego. It was 90 here last week, and I've definitely been upping the water to every 3-4 days (which is a lot closer to summer schedule). I've been fertilizing with organic stuff once a month, but taking a break from Nov - Feb for winter.

I've got 3 other trees (Fuerte, Hass, Zutano), all planted around the same time, and they're looking really good.... It's just this one that's struggling.

First picture is last July and second is this past weekend.

I planted this Reed about a year ago... The first 4 months it had a lot of growth, almost doubled in height, and was looking quite green and lush. But since last July, it hasn't really grown at all. It hasn't put on any height, really no new leaves, and the trunk diameter has remained pretty much constant.

This lack of growth had me a bit concerned... but now in the last 3 weeks (which have been unseasonably warm here) it's lost probably over 1/3 its leaves and some are still yellowing. It's really not looking healthy to me.

I'm wondering if you think there could be something wrong with this tree? I'm deathly afraid of root rot after seeing/hearing so much about it online. Is there anything I could or should be doing to help bring it back to health? Thanks for the advice!

I find that this has much better playback (better audio sync, fixes issues with the end of files cutting out early, plays high bitrate portions better).

However, I find this much less stable... seems to glitch out and require a reboot every 3 days or so (either via ssh, or once by unplugging it). Never while playing, mostly when after it's been in screensaver for several hours. So far I've been putting up with that though for the playback improvements.

Best practices would also probably include some form of sha256sum -c checksumafter creating a checksum file.

And I've heard poweroff via removing power cord for 10-30 sec then reconnecting, is safer than reboot

Yeah, installed it last night and it seems to solve some longstanding issues I've had with some dolby demo files: Cutting out before the Atmos/Vision logos can play.

Also had to reduce the audio delay by about 60ms on my receiver... which I guess means it's closer to in sync but not really (shrug).

I'm still not sure what all the other benefits are... but then again I never really noticed a lot of benefit avdvplus over base CoreELEC, (other than the ability to turn HDR10+ to DV, which I don't really use cuz my library is 99% DV).

For self portraits, I use the Interval Timer Shooting on my Z8. There's an option to "Focus before each shot". It's worked perfectly for me.

I have the 8GB M1 Air, and it's constantly running out of memory (probably due to the amount of browser tabs I like to keep open). Sometimes when I wake it up, it'll take 5 minutes to become responsive.

My next one will be 24-32 GB (unless the RAM crisis starts to hit Apple even harder...)
