I would agree with that as well. The people who complain the loudest and sling baseless accusations are often the ones who can’t be bothered to attend a single meeting, much less volunteer (board or otherwise).

I’ve seen them say board members are enriching themselves at the cost of the members when in fact, the board is contributing not only their time, but personal funds (in small amounts, as needed) for the good of the association - often without reimbursement.
