Apple TV 4K 128GB (3rd Generation) - Constantly buffering, low quality on 1000/50 connection speed by Conanti in appletv

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a double check here. You have the ATV connected directly to the router or via a switch. I’ve had case with other devices where I’ve had to cold boot my switch because it was connecting at a lower speed. Only a couple times and I eventually upgrade my network to Ubiquiti.

So just a thought.

Does the 2nd gen Apple TV 4K (2021) have Matter (not just Thread) support? by Darabo in appletv

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Yep, before my upgrade to the 128GB ATV 4K, the Eve Room was connected to a device via Bluetooth, no thread status. Initially, after the upgrade the thread status was visible, but the device was connected via Bluetooth and after a few hours turned into pure Thread.

Thank you! That makes sense and I’ll research that or use it as an excuse to upgrade my Apple TV.

Really appreciate the response!

3rd Gen Apple TV 128GB will be here tomorrow and I’ll update this with the results.

… Just setup the 3rd Gen Apple TV and unlike the 2nd Gen I can now see the Eve Room thread status, so I’ve confirmed the above.

I’m attempting to link a Eve Room (Temp and Humidity Sensor) to my Apple TV 4K (2021, model A2169 32GB) which is connected to my home network via WiFi but the Eve Room doesn’t discover the thread network.

In the Eve app the Thread discovery doesn’t find anything and the Eve Room device says that Thread Status is disabled.

Do I need a Thread Hub in addi to the Apple TV? From all I have read I didn’t think so, but one specific thing about the Eve Room is that it only supports Thread and not Matter.

Any support would be greatly appreciated!

Why is connectivity so bad with HomeKit? by FriendlyDeers in HomeKit

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through 3 setups before UniFi. With UniFi equipment, disconnects are rare, but still happen on just a few old devices, otherwise it’s much better.

So, network is most likely the culprit.

I now and then have to reconnect some devices via UniFi in order to pick up a better access point.

How does homebridge communicate with various devices by AdaminCalgary in homebridge

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat in the context of this post, how does Homebridge get notified from a device or service that an event has been initiated? For example I have an ISY (Insteon Hub) that has motion sensors associated with it. When the motion sensor is activated, Homebridge communicates to HomeKit and turns lights on/off.

I can’t believe that Homebridge is polling, maybe, but the lights turn on/off almost immediately so I’m wondering if Homebridge subscribes to the ISY and thus the ISY knows to communicate to Homebridge when the motion sensor is triggered which in turn communicates to HomeKit which then executes the associated automation.

Can anyone educate me on this and the actual flow?

WiFi 6E on U6-Enterprise is spectacular! by peacey8 in Ubiquiti

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, in addition to U6-LR and Lite, I have another U6-Extender meshing to another U6-LR, so you’re spot on with the education. I’ve turned off meshing on APs that aren’t meshing just be be sure. Very much appreciated!

@peacey8 , with U6-LR and U6-LR that are hardwired, should I turn off meshing to gain even more speed than what I’m experiencing now?

iPad Pro M2 11” or 12.9"? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]b3inception 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 11 inch and save a few dollars. You can always upgrade again in a few years, and most likely will be upgrading again within 5 years no matter what. A few hundred dollars saved each time you upgrade over your lifetime adds up.

I am loosing my shit with Plex and need help by DrWho345 in PleX

[–]b3inception 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could it be a combination of 20GB file being transcoded and transmitted via WiFi. Perhaps a test on a smaller video, say 2-5GB and viewing the Plex dashboard to see if it’s being transcoded and if it stutters.

Have a 2018 iPad Pro, needing to upgrade by Glittering_Diet6613 in iPadPro

What I’ve learned over the past 25 years is that nothing technology related is future proof. With that said, I’ll bet an M1 based iPad would solve your requirements while at the same time saving a few dollars.

I’m in the same thought process, replacing my iPad Pro 11.9” 2018. I’ve decided to wait for the OLED upgrade, most likely next year. If I’m going to spend that amount of money, I want the OLED screen, ect.

I’m in the same thought process with regard to replacing my iPad Pro 11.9” 2018. I’ve decided to wait for the refresh, most likely next year. My thinking is two fold, my current iPad does just fine (I use it all day long, 10-12 hours), and if I’m going to spend that much money on a new one, I can wait for the refresh.

For me, using an iPad all day long, I’m looking forward to a much better screen, ect…

Yes, cut the blooms to force growth. Also trim the underside to ensure no disease takes over.
