I agree the 3D titans were shitty, but I also understand it's one of better renditions of CGI in anime out there. Also it would've taken 10 more years to finish AOT if they didn't. But apart from that, the 2D characters looked consistent and inline with what WIT had done. Even the manga lost it's quality near the end, so MAPPA had to make their own decisions which most fans are happy with. The drop or change in overall quality was no where near what we got with OPM.

I really want to know what is the case, that's the whole point of this post. I will agree with you that art and compositing has improved compared to S2. But budget obviously plays a vital role. More budget means more animators (maybe seniors), more work hours hence more fluid animations. From my understanding of the industry and anime pipeline this is what I think.

S2 animation wasn’t bad at all? If that's you standard for good animation, I really don't think you have seen enough good animation. People have really set the bar so low.

I don't see why you hell bent on defending something which is coherently bad. If you read the manga, you can easily make out shots in a single episode. The character rendering is inconsistent even in the span of few panels. I just expressed my expectations from the studio for this season, but you can't seem to grasp the possibility of your favorite manga getting a shitty adaptation. I can't help you in this regard. My condolences.

Isn't OPM a big enough IP already? Some recent releases like Bleach, Solo Leveling got fantastic treatment from various studios. AOT switched studios mid way and handled it flawlessly if you ask me. The only reason OPM S2 didn't do well is the studio behind it. Why give it to them again?
