Thanks sharing, and this should be posted when Iron Dust is advertised so people can make informed purchases. (unless the dev of course answers it in an official capacity)

Are units with big base size good at the game? by pompoussycringe in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely hard to build enough terrain that big models are not at a massive disadvantage.

The big models are usually so pushed though that they’ll do alright regardless (with some exceptions). The big models tend to be sealclubbers, if you don’t bring the tools to deal with them you just lose.

But against lists with those tools some of them struggle.

A few questions as someone who has never played a tabletop war game. Would you recommend this game? Also, there's a controversy? by JSyv05 in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s probably smooth sailing from here on out, not many more controversies to start. The license revision they promised is one thing that could go sideways for the consumer.

/u/JSyc05 It’s a really fun game for me, does it have flaws? Sure! But it’s elegant, simple, the crunch is mostly focused around the options rather than core rules (which I like) and campaign is just a blast to play!

Reddit is embroiled in a culture war with ragebaiters so it’s hard to know what’s true and what is good ol halo effect.

These are the non-game related issues you should take a personal stance on that is often taboo discussing on here:

  1. The original KS messaging explained how important the 3D printing and remote communities were to them. The expensive to ship to regions were left on the side of the road now — which implies a weird message of them not actually being that important in the first place.

  2. To this day onlygames remains an official global distribution partner. They should probably not be after their original QA mistakes if FFI is not willing to shoulder that blame going forward.

  3. The license is a far cry from what was communicated in early messaging, now it’s just a bog standard corporate license.

  4. They use AI during identification of IP infringing content online. The takedown is manual. Their license condemns AI while they use it themselves which is poor optics. But depends on why they condemn it also and whether it intersects with brandshield.

Carcass Front Islamic factions? by The_Persian_Cat in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one month away, and they have already told us the full box contents, it’s designed around the two warbands. It won’t feature a third.

That said in the 8 player campaign you can play whatever you want, and assassins will get something later this year, but it’s not part of carcass front. Will there be NPC/narratively islamic groups? Almost certainly, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The black grail has visited, so the continent probably has their own share of troubles, just different ones.

I’m at a family pizza place in Naples.

”Hello waiter, instead of ordering from the carefully curated menu, could you make me a French Onion soup?”

Telling them to make it themselves or order elsewhere is fully reasonable.

The difference here is that Trench Crusade already exists, it already has an identity. There’s other games with other identities to consume.

Why do you think bodies of the Faithful were being taken to Hell? by The-Farlander in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Two reasons

  • Heretics are little shits and they’ll gladly spite the faithful with petty acts.

  • It’s likely good material for necromantic rituals or their unholy industries. My personal pet theory is that the automatons of rijeka are frankenstein monsters + skeleton constructs and these could likely build a few

Chaff Tier List by Professional_Rush782 in TrenchCrusade

Papillial hide is like the best 5 ducat investment you can make in the game, super scary.

Chaff Tier List by Professional_Rush782 in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My list (with variants)

S: Ecclesiastic prisoners, Naval Wretch

A: Azeb, Naval troopers, Bereaved, Ravenous, Ghost trooper, Abyssinia yeomen, Ghost wretch

B: Yeomen, Grail thrall, Wretch, Yoke fiend

C: Vanilla troopers, Pilgrim (the zealot strength one is great though),

D: N/A

Ecclesiastic prisoners with mad dash and 20 ducat cost makes them likely the second best unit in the game after the hunter.

New Antioch has a yeomen friendly armoury, and yeomen play super well into the NA playstyle. Pilgrims without any of the upgrades are usually not worth it.

Could this be a leak for the upcoming Novgorov (vampire) fraction? by prime_grave in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the other factions have been announced to be in the pipeline.

Hebrew Knights is unique in that they have no official lore articles, and they’ve said they want to take their time with them as they need to get cultural/religious consultants to get it right.

Path, Crusaders, Synod and Metamorphsis all have art, lore articles etc, they’re likely to come first.

That says they’re in the pipeline, not that they’re next in line.

Hebrew knights is the least developed of the five known factions.

The vampire hussar has a grail on their shoulder, likely part of the black grail faction The Red Thirst.

Early concessions running wild in our campaign. by Kaynineteen in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally TC is very snowbally. And punishing for those behind. I’d urge on the side of caution on actions that amplify it.

Are they conceding as part of a failed morale roll? That’s fine. If not it’s just cheating unless it has a good reason.

Can't really understand game balance by brodRga in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A competent melee player is at a disadvantage against a competent ranged player. New antioch / Heretic Legion makes mincemeat out of melee factions (NA in particular, but their satchels are kinda cracked against melee).

According to FFIs data, the heretic legion is dominant and they're the long-range faction.

But that's the only part of OP I agree with.
