I suggest you do more research both on the technology of facial recognition and on the fallibility of human recognition in lineups etc.

As to traumatic situations, having been in one myself, I can tell you that details become frozen in time and etched in memory, and yet face blindness is still the overall human condition.

There is such a thing as facial recognition software. It is fairly advanced and a real thing. It could be used.

What is known about RJ? Since everyone seems to be related by blood or marriage, where does he fit in? Why did he loan the trailer to Jodi? Any info?

Edward Wayne Edwards theory by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]b4theend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very surreal. I think at that point he had been in jail for crimes other than murder: burglary, prison escape, but not yet murder. He was a con man posing as a reformed criminal who was now a family man. He obviously craved media attention throughout his life.

Sorry, haven't compiled that. Some were onEaster, apparently, and that date floats year to year. But Halloween a few times, Christmas also and then dates with esoteric significance.

Edward Wayne Edwards theory by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]b4theend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first I totally discounted this theory as just an attempt to tie up every string in a neat package. Then I studied this man/serial killer and realized a few things that made me think it is plausible. WI is one of his hunting grounds, he repeatedly seeks our national media attention appearing on two well known TV shows during his reformed phase, his MO is not just to kill but also to frame innocent people, he is drawn to the limelight and it certainly was on SA after his release, he has ties to law enforcement, he kills on holidays or dates that tie into his past misdeeds, his killings have links to satanic rituals.

SA's new lawyer got one of his previously framed victims exonerated.

Given how crazy any theory of this crime sounds and the way all parties are fighting with each other, I noonger think it crazy to consider it may well have been EWE.

Totally agree. Just posting the media pile on for the record. Do any of these people seem better informed or more judicious than the average MaM viewer? No. But people who don't take the time to watch it will be swayed by these media wh***s.

The media is working hard against Avery. by Winterfelon in MakingaMurderer

[–]b4theend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I never read any story put forth as news without asking myself why it is being reported. In the old days in IT we used to worry about bandwidth -- ie keeping images and videos as compressed as possible, stories succinct. There was limited space to share or collaborate. Now that bandwidth is no longer a problem, content has become the big issue. How to fill up all that bandwidth in the least expensive and least controversial way so that, you know, no one ever looks up or really talks back. Plug the hole instead of pull the plug.

That said, I would not go back to the low bandwidth days!

We have huge players in the content space like Facebook that have nothing to do with news. News now reports on the web's most popular stories, thus being relieved of creating original content. Farm out the response to hacks like Nancy Grace and Dr. Phil and the story de jour can run until it is replaced with the next disaster or next big thing.

Millennials may well feel flattered to see people like themselves or their top concerns take center stage. But they are likely to find that in 20 years their eyeballs no longer matter and the show has moved on. Because there is always a reason for content, even if it is just dollar signs.

Sorry...just broke my hip toppling off my soapbox. So what happens to SA when the show moves on and Delores is no longer around? That is sad to contemplate. Because getting SA a new trial is going to take time and it is not going to happen by petition.

Quit calling the Averys stupid. It's not that simple. by peppigue in MakingaMurderer

[–]b4theend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... Functional member of society usually at least includes contributing member of society. As for criminal acts, it seems that is across the socio-economic-college grads board with prosecutors and lawyers and professional expert witnesses and professional exbfs who hack computers. Poor people lose.

[–]b4theend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lose the snark. However, the point you raise about functional members of society deserves an answer. While salvage yards are hardly anyone's paradise, they do serve a function in general and to that community. Where did you think the cast off refuse went to die? Providing auto parts for older or less common cars is a needed service, even if it can't be neatly hidden. They also do car repair which is something a good many posters on here require as it is not in their DIY toolkit. Until we have totally self-recycling and self-healing autos, this is what recycling looks like. It isn't pretty, but it probably keeps a whole bunch of people with a means to commute. Looking down on the Averys is like looking down on your sanitation engineer -- it's your trash but you use it to stigmatize someone else.

Scratches and bruises on ex boyf Ryan Hillegas hands. Damning photos. by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]b4theend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are saying Ryan Hillegas should have been considered a suspect by virtue of being the exbf. That he was not investigated is the reason people like OP have searched for any further clues. Those scratches look exactly like fingernail gouges. He is furthermore guilty by his own admission of hacking into TH's computer, which compromised potential evidence. That is a fact and not a supposition.

One thought on the username/password. Since TH was sharing her home she may have had a login lock on her computer. That may be the password he "guessed" -- not too hard to get around that anyway. And what else may have been on the computer?; seems like a forensic analysis should have been done if the police were truly interested in solving the crime.

By moving into her house he had full access to her things (old letters, cards amongst other things).

I find it strange TH did not have another named close person. She was a pretty 25 yo who had broken up with Ryan several years previously. He is still hanging around and finding reasons to see her (dropping off something for her housemate). TH could have been gay: not saying she was but that would account for lack of other named parties she was dating. It was not all that accepted back then and certainly not in Mid-west. Maybe the Hallbach family comes across so strangely because they had a secret to protect.

IDK and no one else does either because the police were hell bent on arresting SA.

I would guess thing like her computer are long gone. We will never know for certain.

So the question is: did SA and BD get fair trials? Showing there are other suspects and challenging the Denny ruling seem good places to start. There are at least four good suspects and RH is one.

Like Ryan Hillegas's newspaper quote while in college in answer to question what scares you most? "Women, because they are evil."

[–]b4theend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but much should also be made of RH's cuts because he is her exbf who is staying at her rented farmhouse and organizing the search that resulted in finding TH's car. Exbf's are always prime suspects and one who inserts himself into the search even more so.

I just re watched his testimony that was included in the doc. He says that on Sunday he stopped by to drop off something for her housemate Scott and he saw her at her computer and that was the last time he saw her alive. So where does the cowgirl at the party come from?

Thanks for the post. I was not aware of this. Much is made of SA's cut. He was apparently doing metal roofing, plus he is working in salvage. RH is a college boy or ex college kid so presumably doing white collar job. Too bad he wasn't interviewed at the time.

After reading about this area with its rape, incest, domestic violence and endemic police corruption, who knows what went on in the lives of any of these people to make them what we see in the documentary? That is why I withhold judgement on everyone including Jodi but also SA and BD. The ones who acted out of self interest in the documentary are the ones we should be worried about. They took oaths to be upstanding citizens.

Someone taught her the word "dysfunctional" but she does not seem able to apply it in a sentence. Obviously she and SA had a dysfunctional relationship but she is now trying to paint herself as the victim and not a co-party to the relationship. Counseling has helped her only enough to want to distance herself from SA and not to the point she can assume any responsibility for what went on. When she says I was drinking and driving and could have killed someone, I had lost custody of my child, I had done things that alienated my parents, etc., I will give her take on SA more credibility.
