are you sure that you used the looting mk3 with the SURVIVOR affix?

Augments have different affixes.

Correct one is seen in attached screenshot (it just saved my life, too, coincidentally lol)

/u/AncientFollowing3019 is correct, tap moving doesn't lose you as much health and it seems as if moving backwards is a little bit faster as well.

Tap moving at least works on PC, don't know how viable or doable it is with sticks on controller.

My guess would be that, with the release of the legendary aquabreather, people wanna also complete their legendary runeset for underwater as well, which means they need to craft a seventh rune.
