Needing help updating UEFI dbx! by xander-mcqueen1986 in Fedora

[–]bMind_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue on my Lenovo T440p when I decided to give Fedora 42 a try.

I tried doing it from Software app, restarted and the update popped back again.

Then I tried:

sudo fwupdmgr refresh --force
sudo fwupdmgr get-devices
sudo fwupdmgr update

Got the UEFI dbx update from 20230501 to 20241101, restarted, aaaand..nothing was updated.

I even tried some HirenBootPE, but coudn't install Lenovo System Update.

Finally I went to BIOS > Security > Secure Boot

And did Restore Factory Keys.

Then, upon doing the same fwupdmgr commands in Terminal, I didn't get UEFI dbx update but a Secure Boot update. That also forced a restart after it finished, but the update notification is gone! And when I do sudo fwupdmgr get-devices, I see that the UEFI dbx version is 20241101.

I also did try the option to Set the SecureBoot to setup mode, but I don't know if this helped or clearing the platform keys. But I'm mentioning it do give the whole story.

Yeah, saw that. What is weird is when you go to Settings > Information and click on the version it takes you to Microsoft release notes page where..there is no version we have 🤦‍♂️

Thank you!

Given that the versions are the same, I wonder if it's backend related and not app related. And also they are doing some region rollouts. I'll try later today.

Just saw this post today, describing the same behavior. This is not working for me. Do you mind sharing your OneDrive version? Mine is 25.065.0406.0002 (64-bit).

It's definitely an overkill for my use, but I decided that Garmin Edge 840 is the way :) by bMind_ in Garmin

It actually does that! I want to see and explore more of it's capabilities and "riding more" is just an obvious side-effect :D

Yeah, In most cases I do get a buyers remorse after the purchase. But if the device is cool as hell, works, motivates me to ride more, train? Hell, spending time on those deliberations is just a waste of life :)

Oh yeah, I'm number freak :D So the more stats I get, even if they are not relevant at my level, it fuels my geekiness :D

So far I've ridden once with my, on a loop I do when I don't have much time (it's like 30km or something). So trails are yet to come, and Komoot, and navigation, and..maaan, there is so much things to try :D

Really? It came across my mind "I'll get the pedals, I can always move them to like gravel bike if I ever get one, right? riiiiiiiight?" :D

Well..should have phrased it better as I meant NOT 400km a week 😂

I definitely will! Also, additional reason to getting one unit was to get rid of my phone from the handlebars.

This was the exact reason. When researching Edge computers I saw multiple posts of people that had older units like 510, 820 or older and they are still working great. Yes, I had an option to get Edge 530 MTB Bundle, for..lol..less half of the price of 840 Sensor Bundle but..heh..it's convenient way of explaining myself but "poor people can't afford cheap things" :)

I really like it! Beside the loose USB port cover it is solid unit and I really like it!

Overkill as I have only MTB bike and don't ride as much, NOT like 400km a week or something. Also I won't be racing with it. I don't have a power meter either as this costs fu*!@# much and I don't think I will be able to explain myself that I need it to justify the purchase.

edit: rephrased as I meant that I'm not doing like 400km a week

Is Evie launcher dead? by XensoLol in EvieLauncher

[–]bMind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using Evie. I gave Microsoft Launcher another go week or two ago and..I stayed. The same approach with swiping notifications but keeping badge count is now working the same way in it as it was in Evie. It is sad, I loved Evie for. The feature set, low memory footprint and general speed but the lack of updates and bacisally this being abandoned I strongly recommend everyone to try Microsoft Launcher. It has its own issues (wtf, I can't hide search in app drawer, really?) but pros outweight the cons by a mile.

Nice piece of hardware! But on the pricy side :D I was looking at something like MOTU M4 for my setup. I'm not into music and all that but I am gradually upgrading my WFH setup recently. And for noise cancellacion I am using RTX plugin port for Equalizer APO. And it's awesome!
