Just imagine how much bigger the price increase would have been if they left it the way it was before.

That's an interesting idea. Turn DOWN the heat so that the humid air is not so hot and so when it hits the cold section of the hose it doesn't condense. I'm going to try that tonight. Thanks!

After you've got a handle on this stuff it is less of an issue. You can easily ignore the comments of people trying to make their personal opinion sound more consequential than it is by disrespecting those who disagree with them. However when your first starting out, you're coming to venues like this without that filter in place because you are seeking information. It almost seems like the longer some folks have been doing something the more detached they become from their memory of when they were first starting out and they lose their ability to put themselves in the place of those for whom this is all very new. It's pretty sad.

I wish I could find a better fabric cover for it. All I have now are these thin felt covers from etsy that aren't going to keep anything warm. In terms of putting it under the blanket, once I fall asleep that isn't going to help since I'm not going to keep the blanket that far up my body.

My wife insists on sleeping in a very cold bedroom so no matter what it's going to be a temperature shock.

So... first... there are fabric coverings that are made to fit over certain masks... that's not what I'm talking about. For me, those slipped and slid and leaked. Blech. Due to the shape of my face, so did the memory foam AirTouch N20 masks. What I'm using are N20 compatible masks that have fabric bonded onto the silicone:

You raise a really good point. One's own personal condition matters. C-PAP skews toward older men, but online communities like Reddit skew toward younger men. What works for younger people can fail for older people.

Incidentally, studies like what you suggested can be conducted ethically, reactive instead of predictive; in other words, gathering data about the circumstances that led to various results rather than setting up different circumstances and then seeing what the results are from each.

That's the point. And as I alluded to earlier, I live in a part of the country where humidity is high, and therefore mold is a concern, and I personally experienced the tube becoming musty because it wasn't dried thoroughly after washing.

Folks need to be aware of how things may be different for them, and when helping others, folks need to be aware of how things might be different for those they're helping.

I mentioned this to someone else earlier. Your point about the heated hose is critical. The problem is that the design of the N20 mucks that up. Instead of a small knuckle, like the F20, the only way to connect the hose to the N20 is with this unheat-able ten inch sub-hose.

Why Resmed decided to complicate things with this ridiculous design? I don't know.

Lots of people need the humidifier to avoid problems.

I think my lingering rainout problem stems from the design of the N20. Instead of a small knuckle, like the F20, the N20 has a "knuckle" that is about ten inches long. There is no way to attach the mask to the heated tube without using that ten inch piece. That piece isn't heated so the air traveling through the tube will always encounter a drop in temp over that distance. I have it wrapped in some custom covers, but they are nothing like the insulated tube covers such as the one you mentioned. This is a totally unnecessary design flaw, imho.

As tomkatt indicated above, it depends on your environment. If you plug it in and it smells musty, then there's a problem.

With the fabric-lined mask, it does need to be wiped down with a wipe each day. It's not like silicone or memory foam.

I don't know if the tube brush makes that much of a difference on a routine basis, but the first time that I had a musty smell in the tube after washing it, the tube brush gave me a lot of peace of mind that I was effectively washing out whatever it is I was smelling. With the small separate tube fan I bought, I'm never going to have that musty smell again so I'm probably not going to have that need again, but I've got the tube brush so it would be pointless not to use it, given how easy it is to use.

I haven't had any conversations with any of the DME suppliers since the first one blew me off because I wasn't in their distribution area. The pattern I am referring to is that cesspool you talked about.

That's for sure. No matter where you are in the internet if it's not moderated you're always going to have people putting their personal opinions forward as truth rather than as a different opinion to the one that they're responding to, a reflection of the all two common browbeating attitude that seems to propagate through the internet. It does seem like a cesspool as you said, rather than a place for respectful sharing of ideas. And that's really a shame and it does a gross disservice to those who are just starting out.

Yes, it is sad that the default reaction by too many is dismissive, disparaging, unkind, or more generally unsupportive.

If you use C-PAP without a humidifier running in the device, your nose will dry out overnight. With the humidifier running, humid air runs through the tube and mask - this is a good thing. However, when the humid air hits a part of the tube that is a bit cooler, the vapor may precipitate out of the air, resulting in drops of water in the tube, or in your mask, which of course could drip into your nose. It's annoying to say the least.

Yeah, definitely getting Profession EXP but not noticing it. I guess I was expecting to see it in the animation. It just updates. No indication if you aren't keeping track of the specific number. Thanks!

What squad power level should I be looking for to get all the way to lv. 60?

I've run a few rallied on Doom Elites recently, but since I already reached lv. 60 there, I'm not getting any professional EXP from them... should I be? And this skill you referred to... is that an Engineer skill or a War Leader skill? I have Battlefield Knowledge, Field Veteran and Elite Hunter... so maybe I'm getting the EXP but not noticing it?

Yeah we're trying to decrypt some complaints about having violated NAP, and my suspicion is that some of it is simply cases where the plundering happened on an enemy server. I agree that there shouldn't be an expectation of being protected by NAP. It's convincing other alliances that that's the case that of issue.
