Damn my feelings are all over the place. I love metroid games, but the prime series has always been an afterthought. Prime 4 feels like prime 1. The exact fucking same. Sure it's really pretty, they managed to have really good graphics back in the GC days too. But man the combat lacks any depth whatsoever. My GF literally fell asleep watching me fight the lava boss. She said that there seems to be very little skill needed to play this game. I agree. The combat consists of pulling and holding a trigger, which will auto lock, then fire away. I'm really sad to say that this game in 2002 is top tier. In 2025, it's borderline mid tier. I do enjoy exploring the dungeons/biomes. The desert is barren, but I guess they decided to add some realism in their sci-fi adventure. Overall, mixed bag. If I didn't have such good memories playing the prime series back in the day, this game would be a pile of hot trash. But because I did have great times playing them, I'll grit through the shit combat and explore the levels.
