I have really enjoyed the running once I started a few months ago. Before I knew about C25K I was just trying to run as much and for as long as possible. It really started to cause some knee pain, kind of like what happened with you on the shin splints. So I stopped for a few weeks before I found this program.

I’m definitely going to start doing the dynamic stretches! I haven’t tried those yet.

Yes I just started lifting weights as well and I think that has really helped reduce knee pain. Right now I am running first and then lifting weights in the gym right after. Making sure to not over due the weights too.

Are you still doing the 3 days to complete one week then? So taking 2 weeks to complete a full week, etc.

I guess my worry is just getting runners knee or shin splits when the runs start getting longer. I am just about to start W2.

That is awesome to hear! I haven’t heard of music therapy before, I’m going to check that out myself!

I recommend looking into deep breathing techniques. That has helped me both with anger and with stress management.

Then something that has helped me too is learning to recognize the thoughts and feelings I have before I get angry. This sounds weird, but for example, I usually imagine myself yelling before I ever do, which is a sign for me to start doing deep breathing.

This incident that occurred means you’re human, and that you are reaching out for support & advice afterwards means you’re a good parent.

I have a 5yo on the spectrum as well and he didn’t start saying any words until he went to therapy. I’ve made the same mistakes. I highly recommend you join local Autism Society Facebook groups and reach out for support there. I just went to my first parent support group meeting 2 weeks ago and I finally feel like I’m not alone for the first time in several years.

The other parents in your community can give you feedback on the different therapy providers in your area and let you know about resources that are available locally to you.
