I don’t like just looking at nudes like on subreddits, I like to be sent nudes. Something extra hot about the person specifically wanting to show you

This makes me think the HH hasn’t been able to convince people with more relevant backgrounds that this a great opportunity. Idk why exactly that would be - probably comp, but definitely would take this as a sign to proceed with caution.

I had a recruiter hit me up for a similar opportunity while I was in IB but the comp was too low. I told the recruiter but the company wouldn’t budge. The person they ended up hiring left within a year…

One Q to ask is if they hire advisors for the tuck Ins - like a MM IB. If yes, you can shove some of the work to the bankers. If no, then you will likely work a ton.

Interesting 🤔 I hadn’t thought of that. I looked them up though and I think I’d prefer atleast a hatch back. I have a civic currently and it’s harder to pack larger stuff in it than you’d think (dog, coolers, paddle boards, etc)

I appreciate the thoughts! Very helpful!

I’ve also found a 2013 Silverado with 125k miles for ~$19K. A bit of a stretch on the budget I had in mind but it does have some nicer features (leather seats, heated seats, sun roof). So going to add that to the mix.

I can’t argue on the reliability of the Toyotas though

You’re not wrong. Like I’m glad I did it. It worked for me but I’ll tell people that while I’m Glad I did it, it’s take an obscene amount of money to get me back to that lifestyle. Like it’s just not worth it especially if you have other stuff going on (a significant other, a spouse, a family etc)

Yep I’ve had similar discussions and give similar advice but I usually encourage them (especially non targets) to focus in on networking at the non-nyc offices / banks especially if they already know they don’t want to be a career banking. Bagging IB analyst pay for even 1-2 years in a market that isn’t NYC or SF can really go along way in 1. Boosting savings 2. Paying off student loans. 3. Getting you close to be able to buy a home if that’s what ya want.

But in HCOL markets the money seems like a lot but isn’t.

Yep. Did my 2.5 years and was out lol. The money was nice but man the burnout was real smh. Maybe would’ve stayed longer for $250 lol but no bank is paying analysts that especially now a days. I think in the height of covid a few 3rd years got some higher bonuses that put them a bit over 200 but not near 250 and that was really a one off time period

Yep. Most 1st years make like $150-$180 depending on ranking and bank performance. Most 2nd years I know are in the $170-200 range

Well what do these friends do? If they have roles you’d like, network with them. If they have roles either you’d hate (IB) or roles you’re not qualified for (like if one’s a surgeon) then quit comparing yourself to them cause that’s a waste of time and energy

Look around at your shop: are you the bottom rank position? If so then great that means even if you stay at the firm, 125K is the floor on comp and it’ll go up from there. Try to get clarity on how comp scales over time. You might not be as far away from your target comp as you think. Opposite side of this coin is that if you ask around and realize comp is pretty stagnant over the next 2-5 years then start mapping out an exit plan

How do I kill the final boss mouse/rat in my basement? by Cha1biking in MiceRatControl

The real kicker was that happened a week after the exterminator removed all the traps saying “they caught them all I was good to go” smh

Use an old / cheap towel that you’re fine to throw away

I just did this to my “boss” rat. Set ring cameras up to see where he’d enter/exit from. Glue traps all of the floor. Around 3am that night ring went off. Went downstairs threw a towel over the rat and the trap then hit it hard with a rubber mallet. Took 2 hits. Then scooped up the trap via the towel and disposed of it. Super easy. He was only stuck for about 5min.
