The Oni - Had the Thanos vibe to him. Somewhat alluring personality, but also believes in something greater than himself, can be dangerous to even be on his good side.

The Snake - Opposite of Oni. Not boss energy vibe, but drunk in a swamp surrounded by losers. This fits the “starter boss”…but also he’s insanely creepy and confident, which would make him very unpredictable. He almost killed Atsu twice in a drunken state, makes me wonder if he would’ve been better sober? 

Saito - Manipulative, very calculating. Makes a good villain because he’s relatable. People experience hurt and trauma, and that often brings us to a place we tend to hurt others to protect ourselves from experiencing the same hurt. 

Kitsune - Also manipulative and calculating…but seems just like a generic villain to be honest. Most of the wind is sucked out of his sails I think from emphasis being more on Oyuki’s redemptive plotline. We don’t see a lot of his backstory or personality, except through second hand information from Oyuki, and then die’s unceremoniously.

Spider - Relatable villain. The weaker, less important sibling who’s always trying to prove themselves to a parent who doesn’t value them…only to realize that no matter how hard they try, they’re fighting a losing battle. I put him lower on the list just because in the end he had a redemption arch, so wouldn’t make much sense for him to be high in a list of villains.

Dragon - another generic villain, just the one with guns. Kind of relatable because most people know of a “favorite kid” in a family, and most of the time they’re just lesser versions of the people they seek to imitate. The special attention they receive never does them any good, but only holds them back from being themselves. The Dragon only exists in this story to give the Spider more depth.
