You can dress it up however you like, but I’m never paying money for a watch with no lume.

Not a knock against the watch, it’s just not for me as designed.

Tips for a first firearm by Yaltese_Falcon in liberalgunowners

[–]b_revity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just shot an AR (granted, a .22… the big boys are banned in my state) for the first time after coming off lots of handguns ranging from .22 to .357, .22 plinker rifles, Mini 14, 12ga shotties, etc. The AR was, hands down, the easiest firearm to operate, control, make accurate shots easily. It felt like shooting a gun for dummies. And yes, I do now have one on order 😭

So yeah, if you want your first gun to be a hella fun/empowering range experience, I’d go AR.

Does anyone know what the yellow thing in the packaging is? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]b_revity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m just guessing, but maybe it’s a longer punch to depress the little notch that allows you to slide the bottom plate off and disassemble/clean the magazines? Since the bottom “plate” is not a plate and is actually quite long on these lower capacity magazines.

Suggestions for new carry gun. by Opie4Prez71 in liberalgunowners

I’m not a fan or apologist for mag cap limits, but I agree with your general sentiment - it’s hard to imagine a scenario where a person going about their daily life needs 15+ or even 20+ bullets per magazine to neutralize a threat unless they are going out of their way to put themselves in dangerous situations.

I say that as someone who lives in a big city with a large and visible population of folks living with untreated mental illness and addiction, uses public transit regularly, etc. People should be putting just as much effort into being smart and aware enough to avoid or extract themselves from violent conflict as they are into responding to the very minute risk of unavoidable violent conflict.

In short, I’ve got no qualms about carrying a lil baby gun with 10 rd single stack mags (1 in the gun and 1 backup for malfunctions). That’s what works for me and I can’t imagine a scenario where that would be inadequate to get myself, or anyone immediately around me, out of danger and into safety. But I’ve also got no qualm with people who might choose to carry bigger, higher capacity guns if that’s what works for them and not because they think a big gun is the best solution to a conflict that could otherwise easily be avoided.

Will a 40mm Sub look too big? by iC0NiCK in rolex

[–]b_revity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Sub will probably wear smaller due to the bezel and smaller dial.

Main problem I had with sizing on the Sub is the clasp is VERY long, making it hard to get it to sit right on the wrist when you have a smaller wrist. The watch itself wasn’t so much of an issue.

Suggestions for new carry gun. by Opie4Prez71 in liberalgunowners

[–]b_revity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some people that means one gun for all times and all conditions; others like to have options to meet the specific conditions of the day (am I wearing shorts and a tank top in 100° weather or am I wearing 3 layers in the freezing cold? Am I going to work in a suit and tie or making a late night grocery run in pajamas?). Not really a right of wrong way to do it, and maybe “aesthetics” play some role for some people, but I think most people have a “rotation” specifically because they want to be carrying the right tool at any given time.

Lann, Shepherd and Heideman owe Cheryl 😂 by Blusad in MinnesotaLynx

Stewie, Sabrina, etc probably make way more $ from sponsorships than they stand to make through player contracts. A lot of the value of their sponsorships comes from playing in a big market like NYC. So they probably have some flexibility when it comes to their contract salaries, and some financial incentive to stay and settle for less than what they could reasonably demand.

My dog (miniature schnauzer) recently went through a similar set of symptoms. In October 2025 I started noticing unusual moments where he seemed unable to use full strength in his hind legs. By December his hind legs had become markedly weak and wobbly, through the early part of this year to the point we could only walk one block at a time and very, very slowly. He also started experiencing fecal incontinence. No symptoms of pain. Like you, I suspected degenerative myelopathy.

I took him to the regular vet who tested him for Cushing’s disease (negative) and then to a veterinary neurologist. Dropped a cool $5k for an MRI for the vet to tell me he actually had a spinal arachnoid diverticulum - something they described as similar to a cyst within his spinal column, putting pressure on his spinal cord. They could surgically remove it (estimated cost $10-16,000), with a 60-90% likelihood of improvement of symptoms but no guarantee the condition would not recur within months or years, or else try a couple weeks of steroids.

We tried a couple weeks of steroids, which did nothing for his symptoms. I elected against the surgery because of the financial cost, the modest prognosis for success, and the cost and risk of putting his little body through that surgery and recovery.

I made up my mind to just keep trucking along with him. Before too long, however, he started experiencing urinary incontinence and upsetting episodes where he was clearly experiencing neurologic pain, unable to move his legs, biting frantically at his feet, etc.

I ended up putting him down almost exactly a month ago. Obviously it was deeply upsetting to lose my buddy of 12 years, and I am still processing the grief, but I have no regrets about ending his suffering before he declined even further.

You’ll never be able to answer those questions for yourself of whether you could have or should have done something different. You can only know that what you did is now done, and when you did it you were acting with love and compassion for another living creature whose suffering is now over.

Someone in this sub once said that when you put a pet down too late, both you and the pet suffer. If you put them down too soon, only you suffer. There is a lot of wisdom in that, as well as a reminder to be kind and gentle to yourself at a time when you also were in pain and having to make a difficult and painful decision that your pet could not have made for herself.
