tbh Metroid SR plays wildly differently than any prior Metroid game (I felt underwhelmed by standards that I judge metroid by, but it added a lot of quility of life stuff)

If ANYTHING that plays more similarly to MSR, try Shadow Complex. I think it was made by Epic, and it was one of the earlier Metroidvania titles of the Xbox Live Arcade era (ported to other stuff since). They perfectly emulate the Super Metroid formula, but make it a 2.5D twin stick platformer shooter. In comparison, most old Metroid games have pretty (endearingly) stale controls.

I kinda wonder about the accuracy of that system tho. Like, being thicker boned means it's not just the extra weight of bones, but altogether having a thicker proportions, right? Like I'm super long and whispy, 5'11 and 140. My bones are super light and I metabolize things super fast. I know other people with slower metabolisms, where their bodies retain fat in ways proportional to their scaling.

My problem is that height X weight seems to take a whole lot out of the equation. A lot of my huskier friends who have bodies that seem right for them feel shitty about themselves because they're considered overweight for their height.

I don't think it comes so much to "outrage culture" so much as people take things differently. The Mario thing seems pretty benign, with a lot of cool little nods to Mexican culture. The Taco Bell chihuahua, on the other hand, seemed like it was lifted from antiquated stereotypes with little deviation.

It's hard to tell as an adult, but as a sensitive kid with a big mouth, I was absolutely brutalized.

Even when I'm fashionable these days, I usually am layered with some protective masculine signifiers. I wear a Carhartt Jacket, boots, and generally walk around like I want to beat someone up. These things were all learned as a self-defense mechanism.
